Job Description Summary

Reporting to the Director, the Senior Assistant Director will collaborate with the Director on implementing volunteer leaders and develop programs to foster industry and affinity-based communities that engage the Bentley community and build their connection to the university and campus partners. Will work on special projects that further the goals of engagement strategic plan of University Advancement. Provides operational support and enhances processes and programs in support of this work.

Essential Duties

  • Collaborates with the Director on building out and growing Bentley Ambassador roles to advance alumni and family engagement and collaboration with the university.

  • Supports the Director in creating industry and affinity-based communities through program development and volunteer opportunities.

  • Collaborates with campus partners to identify volunteer opportunities and amplify their programs to the Bentley community.

  • In partnership with the Director, recruits and cultivates relationships with volunteers to help identify and strengthen the pipeline of board members.

  • Regularly assess programs via metrics and benchmarking with similar institutions.

  • May also support committees, task forces, and working groups as needed.

  • Demonstrates a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and cultural awareness through actions, interactions, and communications with others.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree.

  • 2 years of alumni engagement and/or development experience, or equivalent transferable experience.

  • Ability to travel to regions across the country.

  • Must hold and maintain a valid, unrestricted United States driver’s license, with an insurable driving history as determined by Bentley’s insurance carrier.

  • Demonstrates creative planning, organizational, and project management skills; self-motivated and able to set priorities and manage multiple projects and competing deadlines.

  • Collaborative and collegial approach to working with teams; ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Work Environment

  • Typical office setting with extensive sitting and computer work.

  • Ability to travel to work related events and meetings both on and off campus; travel may occur outside normal business hours including nights and weekends.

  • This role offers a flexible work arrangement, combining in-person attendance with remote work. On-site presence is required based on business needs, team collaboration, or scheduled meetings. Scheduling specifics will be determined in conjunction with the manager. As with any flexible arrangement, this is subject to change based on business needs.
