About the Position

The Internal Communications and Engagement Specialist is responsible for developing and implementing internal communication strategies that align with organizational values and support a cohesive, inclusive workplace culture. This role plays a key part in fostering employee connection, alignment, and engagement across geographically dispersed teams. The Specialist will lead the execution of company-wide campaigns, manage internal communication channels, and coordinate national engagement initiatives and events, in alignment with all Company policies, procedures, values, key objectives and regulations. The position works in close partnership with Human Resources, organizational leadership, and field teams to ensure all employees, regardless of location, are informed, engaged, and connected to the company's mission and goals.

Day in the Life
  • Implements all components of the internal communications strategy aligned with organizational goals and culture.
  • Produces content across multiple channels including email, newsletters, intranet, Teams, and digital signage.
  • Supports executive communications, change initiatives, and company-wide messaging.
  • Designs and executes programs that promote employee recognition, connection, and inclusion across all job sites.
  • Coordinates national engagement campaigns and events (e.g., Safety Week, Appreciation Days).
  • Partners with field leaders to tailor and improve localized communication and engagement efforts.
  • Writes, edits, and curates high-quality content for varied audiences (field, office, executive).
  • Manages the internal editorial calendar and ensure timely execution of campaigns and communications.
  • Leverages digital tools (e.g., SharePoint, Teams, signage platforms) to improve reach and engagement.
  • Partners with Talent Acquisition on employer branding and recruitment marketing initiatives.
  • Develops employee-centric content for use in recruiting and brand storytelling (e.g., testimonials, workplace features).
  • Maintains careers web pages to ensure up-to-date content, consistent brand voice, and SEO alignment.
  • Ensures messaging consistency across internal and external recruitment touchpoints, events, and campaigns.
  • Monitors engagement through surveys, analytics, and feedback mechanisms.
  • Analyzes data to assess effectiveness and continuously improve communication strategies.
  • Consistently makes decisions in an attentive and safe manner to ensure the safety and health of self and others
  • Promotes and models the Company mission, vision and values through exercising sound and ethical business practices, championing all elements of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and providing high quality services and programs as they relate to clients, subcontractors, co-workers, suppliers, and the public.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Human Resources, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in internal communications, marketing, or employee engagement.
  • Experience in construction, facilities services, contracting, or industrial sectors is strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage communications across distributed teams or multi-site operations.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling abilities.
  • Strong strategic thinking and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, people-focused environment.
  • Proficient in Office & Collaboration Tools: Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, Teams
  • Proficient in Social Media Platforms: LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram
  • Familiar with Social Media Management: Hootsuite, Sprout Social, or similar tools
  • Intermediate experience in Web & Content Management: WordPress, Canva
  • Working knowledge of Email Marketing Tools: Mailchimp, Constant Contact, or comparable platforms
  • Familiar with Engagement & Survey Tools: Slack, Workplace, Alchemer, SurveyMonkey
