What You Will Do
Consulting services by giving guidance on operations and/or troubleshooting of equipment or process issues.
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
Skills and knowledge of project management, planning, guiding, and directing plant engineering to achieve plant operations objectives for safety, quality, and customer satisfaction. Chemical, mechanical, or process experience in a manufacturing or pilot plant environment with a background in chemicals, oil refining or bio-refining. Must possess strong organizational, problem-solving, strong communication skills, be a team player, and the ability to effectively lead and develop others. Experience in process/project engineering and working with technical personnel, operations personnel, and clients is critical.
(A) Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial or similar field) or a Science discipline (Chemistry or Biology) or closely related field AND three (3) years experience in engineering support or closely related duties.
OR
(B) Seven (7) years of mechanical, electrical, and/or process control experience in a pilot or research plant
environment.

About Extra Help Positions:
Extra Help job listings typically close three days after the opening date, unless specified in the closing date. Extra Help employees are appointed to fulfill casual or emergent needs within the university. The amount of time for which services are needed is not usually predictable and payment for work performed is on an hourly basis and based on actual hours worked. Workdays and hours may vary according to departmental requirements. Extra Help employees do not receive SIUE benefits, holiday pay or paid sick or vacation leave.
Extra Help employees are required by State Universities Civil Service System rules to take a 30-calendar-day break after working 900 hours. At the end of the 30 days, you may begin another 900-hour employment cycle in a new position if available. Working Extra Help will in no way affect any other employment opportunities with SIUE, including your position on and Civil Service register. There is no guarantee that working as Extra Help will lead to or secure permanent employment.
Illinois Residency Requirement: Pursuant to the State Universities Civil Service System, out-of-state candidates must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of the start date for this position.
Illinois residency requires proof of a valid Illinois Driver's License or state of Illinois ID Card. Failure to produce the required documentation within 180 calendar days will result in immediate termination of employment.

Additional Information: SIUE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States and visa sponsorship for this position will not be provided. International students at SIUE on F-1 or J-1 visas are not eligible for full-time or part-time civil service positions with permanent status.
