We currently have a need for a Sr. Linehaul Operations Specialist at Brampton, ON location. This position will be responsible for executing the policies and procedures necessary to manage the physical transportation of cargo within our Canadian network of hubs, gateways, stations and meet-points. The position will work to ensure the Linehaul network meets customer / internal requirements and is executed in an organized, efficient and safe manner.
Key Responsibilities:
• Monitor all Linehaul trucking in the Canada ground network
• Perform check calls as required to ensure service goals are met
• Update and track all Network Linehaul trucks
• Coordinate/communicate with vendors and station personnel regarding Linehaul status
• Ensure compliance with established DHL policies on freight movement
• Monitor daily shipments to ensure service levels are achieved
• Accomplish data entry for all Linehaul trucks within respective tracking systems.
• Check billing accuracy and approve invoices in Basware to ensure vendor payment.
• Produce and publish daily service reports to be provided to internal stakeholders.
• Monitor carrier performance and recommend actions for compliance failure
• Negotiate rates with vendors for ad hoc truck movements
• Coordinate and fill truck requests promptly and cost effectively
• Establish and build carrier relationships
• Respond and action station/general inquiries regarding truck operations
• Retrieve PODs and provide to required internal customers
• Provide contingency options to recover distressed trucks with minimal service impact
• Develop a thorough understanding of Linehaul network / working understanding of the Air network
• Accomplish additional duties as assigned
• Coordinate actions to execute solutions and achieve service goals
• Make/implement recommendations for improved efficiency, accuracy and cost savings
• Pro-actively engage in all issues that will impact service and follow thru to completion
• Provide guidance, advice and/or training to colleagues on all Linehaul related issues
• Apply problem-solving skills in order to deal creatively with complex situations
• Ensure reoccurring issues are raised to the right management function and level for review
Do you have what it takes?
• Minimum 5-10 years transportation or logistics experience
• Preferred BA degree
• Excel, Word and Power Point experience required
• Strong communication skills (written and oral)
• Fluent in spoken and written English
• Strong knowledge of Network Operations and workings of DHL
• Ability to influence and negotiate with outside vendors
• Excellent business acumen
• Effective planning, organization and decision making competencies
