Job Summary
The Patient Service Coordinator acts as a service agent to provide basic financial counseling to patients admitted into Eastern State Hospital. The Patient Service Coordinator will assists the Business office department in a busy hospital behavior healthcare setting. Must have general knowledge of basic behavior health regulations, basic financial counseling background and a basic knowledge of scheduling referral appointments. The following skills are needed in the position: Has a keen attention to details, as this is required for both receiving and filling paperwork for a patient and when entering information into a hospital’s computer system; work as a team player to make certain the patient receives the best possible experience. An understanding of medical terminology; a working knowledge and ability to use all necessary office equipment; be proficient in windows-based technologies (ex. Word, Excel).
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
Organizational skills, exceptional and positive communication, adaptability, and ability to contribute positively to project management and quality of patient care. Must know Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. The employee shall become familiar with HIPAA regulations and do their utmost to protect all protected health information (PHI) and other personal or sensitive information within their trust in the course of state business by applying appropriate safeguards and sharing only the information required to deliver agency services. Any personal or sensitive information overheard or seen by the employee will be kept confidential by not sharing it with others, on or off the work-site grounds.
