Overview

Reporting to the Production Shift Supervisor, the Machine Operator produces rotational molded parts in accordance with process parameters, changes out molds, and maintains acceptable levels of scrap and productivity; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies.

 

2nd Shift Hours (2pm - 10pm, Monday - Friday)

3rd Shift Hours (10pm - 6am,  Sunday - Thursday)

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operates rotational molding machine to meet or exceed plant metrics related to Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Morale/Inventory.
  • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean, orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
  • Transfer plastic resin into ovens for heating and into molds for forming.
  • Work as a team to assemble and dismantle molds.
  • Removes molded parts from the molds and monitors part temperature.
  • Conduct mold changes using overhead cranes and rigging.
  • Uses feedback from Trimmers inspecting product to drive process improvements to reduce scrap and improve productivity.
  • Maintains safe and clean operations by adhering to safety procedures and company 6S requirements.
  • Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications



Qualifications:

  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to complete dimensional measuring and quickly learn the use of precision measurement tools.
  • Ability to perform simple math and measurements.
  • Ability to maintain a high attention to detail.
  • Ability to lift up to and including 50 lbs.
  • Frequent stooping, bending, squatting, crouching, or reaching above the shoulders is required.
  • Frequent use of hands and wrists on both large and small items: e.g., screws, bolts and nuts to service the molds.
  • Ability to understand/apply knowledge of “G” and “M” codes and have applicable computer skills.
  • Ability to focus and work at a continuous pace for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to efficiently work in a team and coordinate work with other departments.
  • Aptitude to take orders and execute the same efficiently.
  • Demonstrated detail orientation, self-motivation skills and ability to multi-task.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent GED preferred.
  • Previous manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Exposure to a Lean manufacturing environment preferred.

Equipment Operated:

  • Forklift, measurement devices, wrenches, screwdrivers and various other hand tools.
