POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Supervises the Fabrication section personnel and the work performed by the section. Fabrication services include maintenance and repair of equipment, prototypes, piece parts, components, submodules, engineering, modifications, and configuration changes to instrumentation systems, non-developmental items, and developing experimentation items in support of test requirements. Work supports fabrication, testing, and integration of test support instrumentation, equipment, and machines. Occasionally required to provide limited production quantities of contractor designed items such as machine or equipment components, repair or replacement parts.

The Fabrication Section Supervisor is responsible for overseeing employee timesheets, ensuring accuracy and compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). The supervisor reviews work requests from government customers through the PCMS system, as well as internal requests received via the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) Maintenance Connection. Using this system, the supervisor generates work orders, initiates tasks, and monitors them through completion.

Key responsibilities include estimating costs and schedules, managing workload distribution, and monitoring personnel performance to ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness. The supervisor ensures that the fabrication section complies with all Southwest Range Services quality standards, policies, and initiatives.

The role also requires maintaining clear communication with stakeholders—including government points of contact, Southwest Range Services supervisors, managers, and project leads—to provide task updates and address shifting priorities. Additionally, the supervisor is accountable for facility and workforce compliance with safety, security, and environmental regulations, as well as company policies.

As needed, the supervisor may also serve as a project lead on specific assignments, depending on workload and priorities.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Associate’s degree in a mechanical engineering technology field or equivalent with a minimum of three years’ applicable experience. Alternatively, a total of six years’ progressive applicable experience working in a machine shop and/or performing a key fabrication trade/skill such as welding, sheet-metal work, etc. is also acceptable. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Applicant selected may be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. Two years of supervisory experience. A working knowledge of Mission Support Services (MSS) contract operations and support requirements as well as required reports and administrative functions to include purchasing, supply, timekeeping, etc. Familiarity with PCMS, Southwest Range Services Purchase Request system and Maintenance Connection. Working Knowledge using CNC machines to include Water Jet.
