Summary
The Structures Engineer is responsible for maintaining the structural health and continued airworthiness of the airline’s in-service fleet. The Structures Engineer accomplishes this through supporting fleet projects, Major and Minor structural repairs, reliability initiatives, and Major and Minor alterations to support company initiatives and regulatory requirements. The Structures Engineer develops and maintains engineering documentation, reviews proposed modifications and repairs for regulatory and company compliance, coordinates alterations and repairs with OEM and FAA representatives, provides support to line and heavy maintenance personnel.

Minimum Requirements
Combination of Education and Experience will be considered. Must be authorized to work in the US as defined by the Immigration Act of 1986. Must pass a Criminal Background Check.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree
Education Details: In a related field.
Years of Experience: Minimum five (5) years of experience in the following: Airline Engineering, MRO engineering or OEM MRB environment.

•Experience in developing structural repairs on Airbus and/or Boeing aircraft.
•Experience with Airbus and/or Boeing Drawing system, SRM, CMM, CML, PMS, OEM Service Bulletins, Airworthiness Directives and Airbusworld and/or MyBoeingFleet.
•Experience performing general stress analysis to determine faster bearing, shear out, Joint Strength, repair splice and doubler sizing.
•Experience contacting OEM for support. This includes: Creating damage reports using photos, drawings, and SRM sections, clearly communicating the issue to the OEM, developing a suitable repair process, clearly stating the process to the OEM and requesting approval, communicating all relevant information to the OEM to reduce number of messages and obtain an approval in the shortest amount of time.
•Experience in the preparation of engineering modification and repair documentations to provide to technicians at various Line and MRO facilities.
•Experience in assisting maintenance technicians to evaluate damage accurately per the SRM.
•Experience in making a correct major/minor determination and identifying what is being classified as major or minor.
•Experience in developing substantiation reports to justify modification and repair designs.
Preferred Requirements
•A319/A320 Structural repair and alteration development experience.
•B737 Max Structural repair and alteration development experience.
•Prior experience in Liaison Engineering at a Commercial Airline.
•Experience developing Engineering documentation from FAA and OEM documents.
Job Duties
•Ensures that all structural repairs/alterations performed to the aircraft are properly classified and supported by appropriate documentation.
•Ensures that structural repairs/alterations accomplished are appropriate and necessary.
•Ensures that the type of repairs accomplished to the aircraft align with Allegiant standards for repair.
•Ensures that repairs/alterations accomplished during a maintenance visit have negligible to zero impact to the in-service fleet.
•Ensures that any follow up actions are properly documented on engineering paperwork and captured in the Allegiant system.
•Creates Engineering Documentation to capture repairs/alteration accomplishment instructions.
•Creates Substantiation Reports to justify alterations and repairs accomplished.
•Obtains OEM or FAA approvals for alterations and repairs accomplished.
•Travels to MRO’s and Allegiant maintenance bases to train personnel on the Allegiant Engineering processes and documentation.
•Travels to MRO’s to survey aircraft for repetitive repairs, development of typical repairs, review structural reliability issues.
•Communicates with OEM to obtain alteration and repair approvals, seek advice for new issues, and provide damage reports and data.
•Other duties as assigned.
