Gray's Specialty Equipment segment offers a comprehensive range of expert services, including design, manufacturing, integration, installation, and maintenance of some of the most advanced systems in the food, industrial, pharmaceutical, and vacuum science markets. From components to fully integrated equipment, we provide purpose-built solutions that integrate seamlessly into larger facility design-build, expansion, and retrofit projects.


The Specialty Equipment segment includes Anderson Dahlen, located in Ramsey, MN, and Waconia, MN, and AD Process Equipment, located in Naperville, IL. Anderson Dahlen specializes in stainless steel and specialty alloy fabrication and is ISO 9001:2015 certified, as well as ASME, AWS, and PED compliant. AD Process Equipment features a dedicated control panel fabrication shop, in-house engineering capabilities, and manufacturing space to support customized process system solutions.

The wage range for this role takes into account a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, certifications, as well as other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $69k to $90k annually.


PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION:

Prepare accurate estimates for fabricated metal components and assemblies by gathering information, analyzing important metrics, and conducting regular risk assessments. Fluent in manufacturing, with in-depth knowledge of bills and routings for metal products and estimating ERP systems. In addition to being an excellent communicator, candidates should also be detail-oriented with outstanding organizational skills.


MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Understand the part/project and its requirements.
  • Determine key variables for cost and other estimates.
  • Conduct research to obtain data on materials and processes.
  • Gather and review offers and quotes from subcontractors.
  • Perform risk analysis.
  • Create and submit estimate reports or bids to appropriate persons (project managers, clients, sales team, etc.)
  • Build relationships with key vendors (subcontractors, suppliers, etc.).
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Basic mathematics skills and knowledge.
  • Understanding of how to read and interpret blueprints and statements of work documents.
  • Other duties as assigned.




Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS FOR ENTRY:

  • A bachelor's or associate degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering is preferred or a relevant field.
  • A minimum of 3 years as an Estimator or similar role.
  • ERP Systems experience.
  • Knowledge of and ability to understand Dimensioning and Geometric Tolerancing.
  • Knowledge of and ability to understand Welding Symbols.
  • Knowledge of and ability to understand AWS and ASME Welding Codes.
  • Proficient in estimating sheet metal components and weldments.
  • Strong Candidates will have estimating skills in Machining and Machined Weldments
