Job Description

When you join the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), you become at the center of transforming health care. You are on the leading edge of ensuring family doctors have what they need to adapt, and you are part of a legacy that has been instrumental in improving and advocating for family medicine since 1947. Make an impact that matters. Be Team AAFP.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

AAFP is currently transitioning from Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) to a powerful, flexible headless CMS called Sanity. You’ll be an integral figure in this transformation, ensuring smooth migration of content, adherence to governance standards, and adoption of best practices in the new authoring environment.

As Senior Content Management Specialist, you will be responsible for creating, editing, and publishing high-quality, approved text and image content within our CMS to establish engaging, informative, and accessible web pages. You’ll partner closely with experts across divisions—Marketing, Membership, Advocacy, Education, Practice Advancement, and more—to ensure our new website aligns with strategic goals and delivers a superior experience for AAFP members and key stakeholders.

SPECIFIC ASPECTS INCLUDE:

  • Maintain and publish web content via AEM while the new site is being redesigned, ensuring format consistency, branding and overall site continuity based on editorial style.
  • Author web pages for the new website in Sanity.
  • Provide feedback when design components recommended by the content strategist/writer don't work with the content provided. The alternate solution/recommendation is provided using our design component library.
  • Take ownership of assigned projects, meeting deadlines and deliverables with a keen eye for detail.

Other duties as assigned.

  • Experience with a Digital Asset Manager (DAM) for sourcing images is preferred.
  • Demonstrated success collaborating across multiple business divisions within complex organizations.
  • Familiarity with web accessibility standards and SEO best practices.
  • Strong project management, organization, and communication abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.
