Job/Position Summary

Fathom is a leading digitally enabled manufacturing platform delivering on-demand prototyping and low-volume production with a customer-first “White Glove” service model. We serve regulated industries (aerospace/defense [ITAR, AS9100], medical devices [ISO 13485], etc.), and many more through a network of 9 U.S. sites with 25+ manufacturing capabilities, including outsourced services. We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented Master Scheduler / Planner to build, manage, and implement a comprehensive scheduling function from the ground up. This role is essential to our operational transformation, including the successful implementation of new ERP and MES systems, significantly impacting on-time delivery (OTD) across our complex value-add manufacturing operations to substantially grow our Hartland operations in the next 12 months.  

Primary Responsibilities

Scheduling & Planning

  • Develop and implement an integrated master production scheduling system from inception, ensuring alignment with company growth strategies and operational excellence
  • Collaborate closely with department leads, project engineers, and sales to establish coordinated schedules across multiple departments, particularly in complex value-add manufacturing workflows
  • Act as a key contributor to ERP and MES implementation projects, providing expertise to shape and optimize planning and scheduling processes
  • Proactively identify and resolve scheduling conflicts, material constraints, and resource bottlenecks to maintain smooth production flow and improve on-time delivery metrics.
  • Establish and maintain clear communication channels with all stakeholders regarding schedule statuses, changes, and impacts on operations
  • Collaborate with the Production and Procurement teams to ensure materials and resources are aligned with the production schedules
  • Analyzing capacity requirements to ensure resources are utilized efficiently and effectively

Continuous Improvement

  • Implement best practices, Lean principles, and continuous improvement methodologies to enhance scheduling accuracy and operational efficiency
  • Regularly track, report, and analyze performance metrics and KPIs, recommending actionable solutions for improvement
  • Create production schedules and track KPIs to enhance customer satisfaction, material management, and operational excellence
  • Develop and executing scheduling strategies based on lean principles to enhance operational efficiency
  • Lead improvement projects to deploy new processes and procedures to improve efficiency through the plant

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Operations, Business Administration, Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience
  • 5-10 years of demonstrated success in production scheduling, materials management, or supply chain roles, ideally within low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environments
  • Relevant experience in a manufacturing context with an understanding of Lean principles, scheduling optimization, and inventory management best practices
  • Exceptional analytical skills, with proficiency in data analysis and project planning tools such as Excel, Asana, Power Apps platform, and Tableau
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills necessary to drive cross-departmental coordination
  • Proven experience with ERP/MES systems, including involvement in their implementation or significant upgrades, is preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Certification in APICS CPIM or CSCP preferred
  • Familiarity with additive manufacturing, CNC machining, and regulated industry requirements (AS9100, ISO 13485)
  • Problem-solver with strong attention to detail
  • Customer-focused with a hands-on approach to resolving issues
  • Adaptable, proactive, and thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment typical of growing organizations
