A3 Consulting, LLC is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Technical Writer to join our team supporting a mission-critical Department of Defense (DoD) program. This position will create clear, concise, and accurate documentation that empowers users and supports the system's security accreditation within a fast-paced Agile environment and own the full documentation lifecycle. In this job you will:
  • Author, edit, and maintain a comprehensive suite of documentation for the custom ServiceNow application, including user guides, administrator manuals, installation procedures, and release notes.
  • Develop clear and concise knowledge base articles, FAQs, and training materials that enable users to effectively leverage the system's capabilities.
  • Translate complex technical concepts from Developers and System Architects into easy-to-understand content for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Manage and organize content within knowledge management platforms like SharePoint, Confluence, and Teams, ensuring all documentation is current and accessible.
  • Own the development and maintenance of critical artifacts for the DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF) Body of Evidence (BoE).
  • Create, edit, and manage essential documentation required to achieve and maintain the system's Authority to Operate (ATO), working closely with cybersecurity and engineering teams.
  • Work as an embedded member of an Agile development team, participating in ceremonies like Sprint Planning and Reviews to gain a deep understanding of upcoming features and user stories.
  • Interview Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Developers, and Product Owners to gather the necessary information for documentation.
  • Assist the team by creating visual aids, such as process flow diagrams and UI mockups, to clarify requirements and support documentation efforts.
Qualifications for the role:
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Technical Communication, English, IT).
  • 3 - 5+ years of experience as a Technical Writer or in a similar documentation-focused role.
  • Direct experience creating documentation for custom applications on the ServiceNow platform.
  • Proven experience creating documentation for DoD systems, including direct involvement with RMF/ATO artifacts.
  • A strong ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and software.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills, with an obsessive attention to detail and technical accuracy.
  • Expert proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint) and experience with Atlassian JIRA/Confluence.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience documenting APIs or system integrations.
  • Experience developing DoD Architectural Framework (DoDAF) Documentation
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies; a certification (e.g., CSM) is a plus.

Salary range:
  • The salary range of this position is $100,000 - $130,000 commensurate with experience and achievement.
