Location: Washington DC with flexibility for telework (must live within driving distance)

Schedule: Monday - Friday

Hours: Full-time, 40-hours/week

FLSA Status: Houlry, Non-Exempt

Position Summary

The Senior Accountant USAID Central Accounting and Reporting (CAR) position is responsible for supervising the tasks required to complete projects, supervising accountants and staff in performing assigned work, and ensuring conformity to project specifications and requirements.


The Senior Accountant will support the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), M Bureau (M), Chief Financial Office (CFO), Central Accounting and Reporting Division (CAR) is responsible for administering the financial control and reporting of foreign assistance funds appropriated for USAID program activities and operation expenses, managing the execution of the agency's funds control functions, maintaining the general ledger to support financial activity reporting, monitoring and maintaining effective internal controls primarily over the agency's cash transactions, providing limited cashier services to USAID/Washington, preparing the agency's quarterly and annual financial statements and other financial reports to Congress, OMB, and the public, and overseeing the agency's audit coordination and validation. The performance of this position is key to RavenTek's performance on the USAID contract, and therefore RavenTek's mission to support USAID.


Requirements:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise the tasks required to complete projects.
  • Supervise accountants and staff in performing assigned work and ensure conformity to project specifications and requirements.
  • Generate project reports and assist project managers in producing the final report.
  • Manage small task teams within a project.
  • Apply technical and analytical approaches to address client issues.
  • Anticipate problems and opportunities and address them appropriately and effectively.
  • Oversee the development, implementation, and reporting of performance metrics.
  • Perform continuous review of program performance results and interface with clients to address status, operational issues, and metrics in a timely manner.
  • Prepare the agency's quarterly and annual financial statements and other financial reports.
  • Oversee the agency's audit coordination and validation.
  • Administer financial control and reporting of foreign assistance funds.
  • Manage the execution of the agency's funds control functions.
  • Maintain the general ledger.
  • Monitor and maintain effective internal controls.
  • Provide limited cashier services.
  • Ensure work is executed in accordance with company practices and values and client specifications.
  • Exercise sound business practices/methods, ensuring all business activities comply with all corporate policies/procedures and contract requirements; are carried out in a legal and ethical manner and comply with applicable laws and regulations; and are in accordance with good corporate practice.
  • Must be able to travel as required to support contracts and task orders.
  • Enter actual time worked, once complete, at the end of the day, or no later than 10:00 a.m. the following workday, and submit timesheets at the end of each pay period.
  • Submit MSRs (Monthly Status Report).
  • Monitor RavenTek email on a regular basis, at least 3 times per week, and respond accordingly.
  • Complete required compliance training as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize own work as well as that of assigned staff.
  • Ability to research and analyze data.

Education & Work Experience

  • Bachelor's degree from a fully accredited university or college is required.
  • Must have at least four years' experience in accounting or business consulting.
  • Experience showing effective communication, interpersonal, motivational, and organizational skills required.

  • Not applicable.

Special Requirements

  • Minimum of a Public Trust security clearance.
  • Ability to obtain and hold Secret security clearance or greater preferred.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Work Environment

Employees will be working indoors in an office environment with other people. Potential moderate temperature fluctuations. Typical indoor and computer related noise level, and typical office, paper, and equipment related dust. Exposure to video display terminals occurs on a regular basis.

Physical Demands

To successfully perform the essential functions of the job, the employee needs to be able to sit at a workstation for extended periods; use hand(s) to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear; see to read printed materials and computer screens; mobility to work in a typical office setting. Ability to work on desktop or laptop computer for extended periods of time reading, reviewing/analyzing information, and may be required to provide recommendations, summaries, and/or reports in written format. Must be able to effectively communicate with others verbally and in writing. Employees must be able to lift and/or move moderate amounts of weight, typically up to 20 pounds. Regular and predictable attendance is essential.
