Career Consultant



Collaborates in the development and delivery of career/life education and outreach and service programs. Performs special projects that are closely aligned with training/coursework in academic departments. Provides liaison and consultative services to faculty, staff, and student organizations. Teaches career development course in accordance with academic unit/campus policies. Represents career services at campus and community functions. Represents the University/student Affairs on external or University-wide committees. Engages in employer outreach and development initiatives to promote employment opportunities for students and alumni. Administers and interprets a broad range of career assessment instruments. Maintains documentation that tracks client progress, assessments results, and goals, ensuring confidentiality.

Provides group and individual student career coaching and assessments to foster understanding of University resources, professional development, and career opportunities. Assists in creation and facilitation of education and outreach. Teaches career development courses. Promotes and represents the career center at University functions and drives outreach.

Essential Functions

Position is primarily sedentary. However, during events, there is increased walking (lasting all day) and a requirement of carrying up to 30 lbs. The ability to use a computer and learn/understand several web-based programs and platforms. Use computers/audio-visual equipment for showing presentations, reports, or other reporting documents to an audience of students, coworkers, other staff, and employers.


Physical Effort

Light effort - Little physical effort required.
Duties are primarily sedentary. May be required to move objects up to 30 pounds occasionally. Walking/Standing for periods of time increase during career fairs and other departmentally hosted events.
