Position Description

We are seeking an experienced Director of Human Resources to lead our HR operations and help shape the future of our people strategy. This is a hands-on leadership role, reporting directly to the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), responsible for overseeing a broad range of HR functions that drive alignment with our company’s strategic goals.


The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise across compliance, employee relations, talent acquisition, compensation, benefits, training, and performance management. You will play a critical role in managing day-to-day HR operations while fostering a culture of inclusion, engagement, and high performance across all company locations.


Essential Functions

Strategic Leadership

  1. Partner with the CHRO to develop and implement HR strategies that support business objectives company-wide
  2. Collaborate with Operations, Finance, Safety, and Executive Leadership to align HR initiatives with organizational priorities
  3. Support change management initiatives that promote inclusion, engagement, and growth

Compliance & Risk Management

  1. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws across multiple jurisdictions
  2. Maintain and update employee handbooks and HR policy documentation
  3. Oversee adherence to OSHA, FMLA, and local regulations

Employee Relations & Culture

  1. Promote a consistent, equitable, and engaging workplace culture
  2. Advise on employee relations matters, including investigations and conflict resolution
  3. Champion DEI, wellness, and employee engagement initiatives

Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning

  1. Partner with Talent Acquisition and regional leadership to address staffing needs
  2. Assist in strategic workforce planning initiatives

Performance & Development

  1. Lead succession planning and talent development programs
  2. Foster continuous learning and upskilling opportunities
  3. Manage performance management processes that drive accountability and recognition

Compensation & Benefits

  1. Oversee company-wide compensation strategy and wage equity
  2. Manage benefits program administration and ensure competitive offerings
  3. Provide market-driven recommendations on compensation and benefits

HR Systems & Analytics

  1. Leverage HRIS and analytics tools to inform decision-making
  2. Monitor workforce trends across sites to support strategic priorities
  3. Evaluate and enhance HR technology capabilities

This position offers a salary range of $175K to $200K annually.

Position Requirements

Required Education, Experience, and Technical Knowledge

  1. Candidates must have the legal right to work in the US without employer sponsorship.
  2. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Leadership, or related field required (Master’s strongly preferred)
  3. SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or equivalent certification required
  4. 15+ years of progressive HR experience, including 5+ years in a leadership role managing a team of 6+
  5. Experience in construction, heavy civil, or similar labor-intensive industry is highly desirable
  6. Strong knowledge of West Coast labor and employment laws across multiple states
  7. Bilingual in English/Spanish strongly preferred
  8. Exceptional analytical, communication, and leadership skills
  9. Ability to travel periodically to regional offices
