Responsibilities- Design and develop a scalable Data Lake and data processing platform from the ground up on Azure.
- Lead decision-making and provide guidance on code deployment, testing strategies, and production environment workflows.
- Define the roadmap for Data Lake development, ensuring efficient data storage and processing.
- Oversee Azure data storage and Azure Synapse, Event hubs Implementation.
- Work with Python and PySpark to process large-scale data efficiently.
- Implement and manage Lambda, Glue, Kafka, and Firehose for seamless data integration and processing.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to align technical strategies with business objectives, while maintaining a hands-on engineering focus.
- Drive innovation and cost optimization in data architecture and cloud infrastructure.
- Provide expertise in data warehousing and transitioning into modern Azure based services & practices.
- Model & transform data: Create well-structured, documented data models (star/snowflake schemas, data vault, etc.) to support self-service analytics and advanced use cases.
- Administer databases: Tune, secure, and monitor Microsoft SQL Server instances—including authoring complex T-SQL queries, functions, and stored procedures—to ensure high performance and data integrity.
- Leverage cloud services: Implement Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, and related services for scalable data orchestration, storage, and processing.
Qualifications- Extensive experience in data engineering, software development, and cloud-based data solutions.
- Proven track record in migrating and optimizing data warehouses in Azure.
- Expertise in Python and Java, with a strong understanding of data structures and algorithms.
- Hands-on experience with modern data architecture, including Data Lakes, Change Data Capture, and high-scale processing frameworks.
- Strong knowledge of software development life cycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
- Deep understanding of data governance, architecture, and best practices for scalable data solutions.
- Experience in building highly efficient data pipelines and working with real-time data processing tools.
- Experience with data visualization tools and advanced analytics, including machine learning.
- Familiarity with cloud cost optimization strategies.
- Certifications in Azure or data engineering.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience
- 10+ years of Data & Analytics experience in an enterprise-level environment in two or more of the following areas: Data Engineering (Enterprise Data Lake/Data Warehouse), Cloud Computing, Systems Engineering, Master Data Management (MDM), Machine Learning (ML) Engineering, Infrastructure & Operations, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Data Governance
- 5+ years experience in managing direct reports
- 6+ years of working experience in leading the end-to-end design, development and support of data management disciplines including [data platforms, data integration, modeling, optimization, Master Data Management (MDM), Business Intelligence reporting tools, Data Governance/Quality], and other relevant experience such as quality engineering, release management, monitoring and production support
- 5+ years’ experience building enterprise-grade solutions with Microsoft Azure or equivalent cloud technologies
- Experience in DevOps, version control systems (Git), Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices, testing frameworks, Infrastructure as Code, building CI/CD pipelines (preferably Azure DevOps), scripting languages such as Python and shell scripts and working in an Agile/Scrum setting. Knowledge of ITIL framework and experience with Service Management tools such as ServiceNow
- Engineering mindset to propel the team towards the next generation technologies
- Proven ability to strategically prioritize by balancing business delivery and value generating work with technical debt and engineering excellence
- Persuasive and influential communicator – able to explain complex or intangible concepts to stakeholders at all levels. Strong interpersonal skills are required to develop the vision by partnering with key stakeholders across the business, peer groups, and the Technology leadership team. Experience communicating, presenting, and working across functions to drive organization-wide solutions
Data & Analytics Specific Qualifications:
- Knowledge of data governance frameworks (Purview, data cataloging, lineage).
- Hands-on experience architecting and operating data solutions in Azure (Data Factory, Synapse, SQL Database, ADLS Gen 2, Databricks, etc.)
- Experience building enterprise-grade cloud-native and SaaS Data & Analytics platforms and solutions. Microsoft Azure experience is preferred.
- Experience with Azure Synapse, Fabric, Databricks, Azure Data Factory and other Azure services, Tableau/Power BI
- Experience with Data Orchestration and Observability technologies and platforms
- Familiarity with Azure AI services
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate
