Overview

Lutron Electronics Co., Inc. is looking for a Director, Government & Regulatory Affairs to lead the government and industry relations team.  This position will drive the organization, strategy development, and business integration of a team focused on the development of regional and international codes and standards affecting the lighting and window shade industries.  The successful applicant will be a proven collaborative leader. The standards development and government relations organization at Lutron is a global team of experts driven to keep Lutron ahead of key codes, standards and regulatory changes, and influence codes and standards development in the best interest of Lutron’s customers. 



Responsibilities

  • Directly and indirectly monitor and communicate proposed laws and regulations on a global basis that affect Lutron’s business
  • Communicate with Lutron’s business and technical leaders to understand how the regulatory landscape can affect Lutron, negatively or positively
  • Advise Lutron’s executive team on material changes to laws and regulations affecting the business
  • Develop in concert with Lutron's executive team government relations initiatives
  • Liaises with trade associations, lobbyists, and staff associated with elected officials and government agencies to advance Lutron's objectives and drive consensus
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key elected and appointed officials and their staff
  • Partner with standards, compliance, product management, and engineering teams in connection with standards and code development


Qualifications



 

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all organizational levels and across diverse geographies and cultural backgrounds. Public speaking experience is highly valued
  • Minimum of ten years of work experience in a corporate setting where high-level cross-functional communication is required
  • Prior experience in product driven manufacturing industries is essential, with a strong preference for backgrounds involving complex products.  Tech manufacturing experience is highly desirable
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple complex projects simultaneously
  • Experience in leading and developing team members
  • Experience communicating with government and trade association stakeholders a plus
  • Travel required 10-20% (domestic and international)
