Description

Lead the Future of Maritime Innovation

The Maritime System Solutions (MSS) Portfolio within the Leidos Maritime Systems Division is looking for an Electrical Engineering Manager to supervise and guide a talented team in designing and delivering next-generation maritime solutions. From unmanned underwater vehicles to advanced sensor systems, your leadership will help shape capabilities that protect and advance U.S. interests around the globe.

This is more than a management role—it’s an opportunity to influence groundbreaking technology, mentor the next generation of engineers, directly contribute to contract execution, and make a direct impact on mission success.

Why Join Us

  • Work with cutting-edge subsea technologies that few engineers get to experience firsthand.
  • Collaborate with world-class scientists, engineers, and innovators across the U.S.
  • Lead programs that support the wide variety of high-profile customers.
  • Be part of a culture that values innovation, technical excellence, and mission impact.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide strategic and hands-on leadership for an electrical engineering team.
  • Guide technical direction for multiple high-visibility programs.
  • Translate mission needs into system designs and detailed subsystem requirements.
  • Mentor engineers, foster collaboration, and champion engineering best practices.
  • Coordinate resources, schedules, and budgets in partnership with program managers.
  • Contribute to business growth through proposal writing and technical strategy input.

What We’re Looking For

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Physics.
  • 10+ years of engineering experience in subsea maritime programs or programs with design and delivery of electro-mechanical systems.
  • 5+ years in a leadership role guiding engineering teams.
  • U.S. citizenship with ability to obtain a Secret clearance.

Preferred Experience:

  • Proven track record leading the design, development, integration, and deployment of subsea maritime systems.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 quality standards.
  • Experience with DoD program management, contracts, budgets, and subcontractor oversight.
  • Hands-on experience transitioning designs into manufacturing.
  • Background in UUVs, deployed sensor systems, and maritime payloads.

Additional Desired Skills:

  • Strong systems engineering expertise, including requirements management and verification/validation.
  • Knowledge of signal processing, embedded systems, and power distribution for maritime applications.
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD-810 environmental testing and EMC compliance.
  • Proficiency with tools like MATLAB, Simulink, and CAD/CAE platforms.
  • Experience managing cross-functional, geographically distributed teams in high-pressure environments.

At Leidos, we don’t want someone who "fits the mold"—we want someone who melts it down and builds something better. This is a role for the restless, the over-caffeinated, the ones who ask, “what’s next?” before the dust settles on “what’s now.”

If you’re already scheming step 20 while everyone else is still debating step 2… good. You’ll fit right in.
