SUMMARY

The Technical Accountant is responsible for assisting with efforts  that the Bank’s financial accounting and reporting comply with established accounting standards and regulations. This position requires an in-depth understanding of complex accounting principles, regulatory frameworks, and the ability to develop  accounting policies that support the organization’s strategic goals. Performs all duties in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures, all U.S. state and federal laws and regulations, wherein the company operates.

Demonstrates knowledge of, adherence to, monitoring and responsibility for compliance with state and federal regulations and laws as they pertain to this position including but not limited to the following: GLBA(Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act), Regulation Z (Truth in Lending Act), Regulation DD (Truth in Savings Act) Regulation B (Equal Credit Opportunity Act), Dodd–Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act (Dodd Frank Act), Elder Abuse Laws, Bank Secrecy Act in conjunction with the USA PATRIOT Act, Anti-Money Laundering and Customer Information Program, Right to Financial Privacy Act (state and federal) and Community Reinvestment Act.


REQUIRED DUTIES

 1.    Participates in team efforts to research and analyze complex technical accounting issues. .

2.    Monitors changes in accounting standards and assess their impact on the organization’s accounting procedures. Shares assessments with Corporate Controller. 

3.    Assists with the design and implementation of accounting policies that align with the organization’s objectives and regulatory requirements.

4.    Conducts regular analysis of existing policies and provides feedback to Corporate Controller to ensure compliance with evolving standards and guidelines.

5.    Collaborates with internal stakeholders to establish clear and consistent accounting practices across all departments.

6.    Assists with  account reconciliations using the Blackline system as directed by the Corporate Controller. 

7.    Participates in internal audits and compliance reviews to identify and mitigate risks related to accounting practices.

8.    Partners with legal and compliance teams to address regulatory issues affecting financial reporting.

9.    Collaborates with IT and systems teams to improve reporting tools and processes.

10.    Assists in efforts to provide insights and recommendations to the Corporate Controller for consideration in procedural updates.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

These specifications are general guidelines based on the minimum experience normally considered essential to the satisfactory performance of this position.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to perform the position in a satisfactory manner.  Individual abilities may result in some deviation from these guidelines.

•    Bachelor’s degree from a 4 year college or university Finance, Accounting, or related field. A Master of Business Administration degree within the business and/or finance fields is preferred; a CPA certification is also preferred.  Work related experience should consist of at least 5+ years of experience in public accounting, technical accounting, policy development, or financial reporting.

•    Expert knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, and other accounting standards. 

•    Precision in analyzing financial data and preparing accurate reports.

•    Deep understanding of accounting principles and the ability to apply them to real-world scenarios.

•    Ability to break down complex problems and provide clear, actionable solutions.

•    Advanced knowledge of related state and federal banking compliance regulations, and Company accounting policies and procedures.

•    Advanced skills in computer terminal and personal computer operation, mainframe computer system, word processing, typing and spreadsheet software programs to meet the needs of the position. Proficiency in accounting software and financial reporting tools.

•    Advanced math skills; ability to calculate interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages; balance accounts; add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; locate routine mathematical errors; compute rate, ratio and percent, including the drafting and interpretation of bar graphs.

•    Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and instruct others, train personnel, write reports, correspondence and procedures, and speak clearly to customers and employees at all levels.

•    Proven ability to work across departments and build strong relationships.

•    Ability to deal with complex problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.

•    Ability to work with no supervision while performing duties.


Pay $102,600 - $143,200 per year. The salary reflects the full, reasonably expected salary range for this position. Salary is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. Successful candidates may be eligible for bonus, stock, commissions, and incentives at the Company’s sole discretion.
