Position Summary
Coalfire is looking for an experienced Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to support our DivisionHex group. In this role, you will work closely with internal development and operations teams to design, deploy, and maintain internal AWS infrastructure used during penetration testing and other security service engagements. You will be responsible for architecting and managing the scalable, reliable infrastructure that supports our internal operations and tooling. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience designing and deploying complex AWS environments using infrastructure-as-code, particularly the AWS CDK, to ensure consistency and change control. While experience in information security is valued, it is not required—we welcome candidates with strong infrastructure backgrounds who are interested in supporting security-focused use cases.
This position requires regular access to Coalfire's Alpharetta, GA office to administer and manage physical devices. The role expects up to 3 days per week in-office presence, or as operational demand dictates.
What You'll Do
- Design and deploy scalable internal AWS infrastructure to support security operations
- Architect and maintain robust, reliable infrastructure for internal tools and services
- Design and maintain infrastructure-as-code and deployment automation using AWS CDK
- Proactively identify problems and opportunities for automation of routine infrastructure tasks
- Collaborate effectively with internal development and security teams to design and implement new infrastructure functionality
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of AWS services, architecture, and infrastructure best-practices
- Provide guidance and troubleshooting for internal infrastructure deployments
- Create and publish technical documentation and internal knowledgebase articles
- Monitor and optimize infrastructure performance, cost, and reliability
- Continually review personal performance metrics to ensure goals are consistently met
- May perform other duties and responsibilities that management may deem necessary from time to time
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), particularly VPC configuration and network troubleshooting, is a plus
- Support and maintain enterprise-grade physical systems and specialized devices used by Division Hex consultants for security testing activities
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to users for cloud infrastructure and physical device issues (excluding general IT helpdesk support for laptops/desktops)
What You'll Bring
- Ability to work on-site at Coalfire's Alpharetta, GA office up to 3 days per week (or as demand dictates) to support physical device administration and management
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Professional-level AWS Certification(s) (Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer)
- Strong Python skills with proven experience using Python to automate infrastructure deployment and management
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code and deployment automation in AWS
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with AWS CDK for infrastructure-as-code development (CloudFormation experience also valued)
- 5+ years of experience supporting cloud architecture, design, implementation, operations, and automation in AWS
- Experience gathering requirements from internal stakeholders and refining them into actionable infrastructure designs
- Information security experience or interest is valued but not required
- Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, agile environment
- Ability to support internal teams with infrastructure troubleshooting and technical support
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail
- Desire to learn new technologies and use those to improve efficiency, scalability, and reliability of internal infrastructure
The salary range listed is a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role based on national salary averages. The actual salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, geographic location, training, licensure and certifications and other factors. You may also be eligible to participate in annual incentive, commission, and/or recognition programs.
