What You Will Do
Provide leadership to and direct supervision of Benefits team through effective coaching and performance management. Delegate work appropriately to staff. Ensure staff manages time effectively and prioritizes work to meet department goals while providing excellent customer service. Conduct performance evaluations per University guidelines and determine performance improvement needs. Ensures staff remains in compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures clients concerns and needs are successfully met. Provide leadership to and direct supervision of the Tax and Payroll Manager. Ensure compliance with state and federal payroll laws. Ensure processing of payrolls, salary increases, retro pay calculations and client satisfaction are met. Ensure effective communications between Payroll and Benefits teams and systems. Work to ensure payroll and benefits information is coded accurately to prevent inaccurate reporting of pay and benefits and minimize corrections. Ensure all staff have documented procedures and that there are trained backups in all areas. Manage all payroll and benefits policies and procedures. Evaluates effectiveness of current policies and procedures by conducting competitive analysis and assessing current trends and best practices in our market and industry. Prepare reports and presentations outlining results and trends and makes recommendations for changes as appropriate. Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality customer service.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Administration, Management, Organizational Administration, Public Administration, Labor Relations, Business Administration or a field closely related to the position.
Two (2) years (24 months) of work experience performing professional-level human resources duties.
AND
5+ years of experience working specifically in a Benefits/Payroll unit role (not in an HR Generalist capacity)
2 years of experience supervising Benefits or Payroll Staff (can be concurrent with above)
Knowledge of multi-state taxation laws, FMLA and all federal state and local regulations in regards to benefits and payroll
Preferred Qualifications
Directly related experience in benefits and payroll
