Brief Description of PSU/School/DeptPosition Summary
We invite applicants to join our part-time adjunct instructor pool to teach courses in Accounting within the undergraduate programs of The School of Business. We will contact qualified candidates as applications are received.
Our immediate opening is for the ACTG 381 Financial Accounting and Reporting I course in Fall 2025 in the “Online – No Scheduled Meetings” modality (i.e., fully asynchronous via the Canvas learning management system).
ACTG 381 is a four (4) credit course (link to Portland State Bulletin).
Here is the course description:
Comprehensive study of the principles, conventions and postulates of financial accounting. Appropriate preparation of GAAP financial statements and financial disclosures, including exposure to the judgment inherent in financial reporting. Considers information requirements and expectations of users of financial statements. International financial accounting standards will be considered where appropriate. Specific focus on the responsibility of accountants for maintaining professional accountability to the public interest in the face of institutional pressures. This is the first course in a sequence of three: Actg 381, Actg 382, and Actg 383 which must be taken in sequence.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree.
Ten years work experience in financial accounting.
Experience with Canvas or a similar Learning Management System.
Residence in Portland Metropolitan area, including Washington state.

Compensation$5,440 total per four-credit section. Adjunct faculty members are paid per credit hour per the AFT Collective Bargaining Agreement which can be found at https://www.pdx.edu/academic-affairs/portland-state-university-faculty-association-psufa.
