Position Description

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Heavy Equipment and Truck Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess 3-5 years of hands-on experience in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a diverse range of heavy equipment and trucks. This is a full-time, benefited position scheduled for 40-55 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturdays and overtime as required. We offer a dynamic work environment with a collaborative team.

Position Requirements

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and construction equipment (diesel, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems).
  • Perform routine maintenance, including oil changes, tire rotations, brake adjustments, and scheduled service checks.
  • Troubleshoot malfunctions using diagnostic equipment, technical manuals, and schematics.
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate service records and documentation of repairs and parts used.
  • Replace defective parts, using a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, operators, and team members regarding repairs and preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Adhere to all workplace safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in diesel or heavy equipment maintenance preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of verifiable experience working as a heavy equipment or truck mechanic.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical/electronic systems, and mechanical repairs.
  • Proficient in the use of diagnostic computers and specialized repair tools.
  • Valid driver's license (CDL preferred).
  • Ability to read and interpret service manuals and technical documentation.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Working Conditions
  • Work performed both inside a well-equipped garage and outdoors in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow).
  • Exposure to loud noises, fumes, dust, grease, and heavy machinery.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and steel-toed boots is required.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, squatting, and crawling in tight spaces under vehicles and equipment.
  • May require occasional fieldwork at off-site job locations.
  • Overtime hours and Saturday work may be required based on operational needs.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects up to 75 lbs frequently.
  • Manual dexterity for using hand and power tools.
  • Good vision and hearing for diagnosing equipment issues and ensuring safety.
  • Capacity to work in awkward positions for extended periods (kneeling, reaching, lying on back or side).
  • Stamina for repetitive movements, standing or walking for long shifts.
