Description:

At Semmes Murphey Clinic, we are dedicated to delivering comprehensive brain and spine care. From a routine clinic appointment to advanced neurosurgery, we constantly strive to offer the best care and patient experience. Our Radiology Department offers Xray, ultrasound, CT, and MRI services. The Radiology Scheduling Coordinator is responsible for outpatient scheduling, registration, and insurance verification for patients receiving our imaging services. With an average of 30 MRI scans daily, your contributions will be critical to the smooth and efficient operation of our radiology department.



Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive patient interviews to obtain accurate patient demographics and verify applicable information in the electronic medical record, via online software
  • Assign coordinator of benefits in electronic medical software
  • Screen for any implants that may prevent patients from safely getting an MRI
  • Ensure patients are scheduled accurately and that patients are informed of all required information necessary on day of exam
  • Verify appointment availability for each request using the current scheduling system
  • Maintain the Radiology Wait List, which includes monitoring the schedule for openings and moving patients as they occur
  • Verify eligibility and benefits; assist with authorizations/precertifications, and referrals when applicable
  • Maintain and protect the patient's confidentiality in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability (HIPAA) regulations
Requirements:

Key Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Strong customer service experience or focus
  • Previous experience in scheduling or medical office setting preferred
  • Bilingual in Spanish, or other language, is a plus


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Internet software, electronic medical records and practice management software
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive and negative situations while listening and responding appropriately to questions
  • Organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Good time management with the ability to manage workflow and prioritize demands
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage difficult or emotional patient situations; respond promptly to patient needs
  • Can respond to and resolve routine questions an issues
  • Can provide excellent customer service with a high level of confidentiality and discretion
