What You Will Be Doing:

Under general supervision the Manager of Clinical Analytics is responsible for developing and implementing department business plans and overseeing department operations in a manner that ensures that analysis is conducted to support business decisions and meet internal and external requirements. Work is varied and moderately complex and requires a moderate degree of discretion and independent judgment.

Essential Functions:

  • Develops department goals based on established objectives, participating with peers to ensure effective integration; implements associated action plans.
  • Plans and assigns work; makes timely and effective adjustments as required.
  • Supervises or performs quantitative and qualitative analyses/evaluation on a variety of complex and diverse strategic and operation issues.
  • Develops and prepares effective decision support tools and models for accurate evaluation of performance and to assist in management decision-making.
  • Collaborates with external and internal stakeholders to maintain the validity and integrity of data sources.
  • Compiles, develops and submits or oversees the compilation, development and submission of internal and external reports.
  • Provides technical expertise to other areas including, but not limited to, Business Intelligence, Finance and Contracting.
  • Implements and maintains appropriate and required data, records and other documentation.
  • Develops or assists in the development of department budget; manages budget for area of responsibility.
  • Develops and implements unit policies and procedures that promote best practice; makes recommendations on revisions; communicates to appropriate individuals in a timely and effective manner.
  • Promotes and maintains and ensures that direct reports promote and maintain an environment that supports HPSJ’s strategy, vision, mission and values.
  • Hires, develops, supervises and retains an adequate and competent staff.


What You Bring:

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies

Required

  • In-depth knowledge of healthcare analytics principles, concepts, best practices and performance measures, with the ability to effectively use, implement and maintain them.
  • In-depth knowledge of key medical management data sets, including but not limited to HEDIS, NCQA and/or URAC.
  • Strong skills in dashboard development, including but not limited to the ability to create meaningful dashboards to customers’ satisfaction.
  • Strong skills in SQL Query development, including but not limited to the ability to write SQL scripts for testing, reports, and Tableau data connections and others as required.
  • Strong skills in report development with ability to develop reports in SSRS, Business Objects, or equivalent tool.
  • Strong skills in data visualization tools, including but not limited to the ability to create ad-hoc data connections, developed dashboards, and create data blending
  • Strong knowledge of the business, economic, demographic, and political trends and developments affecting healthcare.

  • Ability to treat confidential information with appropriate discretion.
  • Ability to speak and be understood in English.

Preferred

  • In-depth knowledge of managed healthcare principles including medical management, claims adjudication, contracting models, financial models, data warehouse models, electronic data interchange principles, and Medi-Cal rules.
  • Experience with Medi-Cal regulatory reporting.


 

What You Have:

Education and Experience

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in mathematics, actuarial science, healthcare informatics, information systems, finance or a closely related field; and
  • At least eight years progressively responsible experience performing analytics in utilization management, quality improvement, claims, finance, and contracting; and
  • At least four years managing an analytics team; or
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Preferred

  • Experience in Medi-Cal.
  • Experience in a managed care health plan.
