The University of South Alabama’s College of Medicine (COM) Business Office is seeking to hire an Accountant I. Interested candidates should apply to be considered.

Essential Functions

These are the job duties required of the position.

Essential Functions
  • Maintains a variety of journals and account ledgers using professional accounting methods and tools (PC and calculator).
  • Prepares and inputs journal entries for SAMSF monthly transactions.
  • Prepares monthly financial statements and departmental reports.
  • Performs monthly bank reconciliations for SAMSF accounts.
  • Prepares South Alabama Medical Science Foundation (SAMSF) Yearly Prepaid Insurance Schedule.
  • Audits and processes Direct Pay Requests and maintains related tracking database.
  • Audits Travel Reimbursement Requests for SAMSF and assists with College of Medicine (COM) travel reimbursements as needed.
  • Prepares A/P batches for processing upon approval.
  • Maintains filing systems (paper and electronic) for payables and Clinical Trials.
  • Assists in the preparation of annual budgets.
  • Assists in conducting various cost and financial studies as needed.
  • Monitors IRBnet for Clinical Trial billable items.
  • Prepares monthly Clinical Trial invoices and follows up on past due payments.
  • Files State and City Consumer Use Tax Reports monthly.
  • Prepares and submits SAMSF Clover Report (credit card payments).
  • Retrieves and distributes mail.
  • Deposits checks at Student Accounting.
  • Monitors shared email inboxes
  • Orders and stocks office supplies
  • Maintains Maintenance Work Orders log.
  • Updates and manages weekly content for the CSAB Lobby TV screen.
  • Sends Time Sheet reminder emails.
  • Regular and prompt attendance.
  • Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required.
  • Related duties as required.
