Responsibilities

Account Specialists are responsible for working assigned caseload of Healthcare claims accounts.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Contact insurance companies, employer and/or patients or their attorneys, (depending upon client), by phone, mail or fax to resolve claims
  • Draft appeals and demands to insurance companies ensuring timely resolution and payment of claims, as well as argue verbally over the phone with insurance companies to get denials overturned and paid
  • Utilize federal and state laws, statutes and settlement negotiations
  • Maintain a working knowledge of assigned clients, states, and insurers
  • Submit bills, (with or without medical records), to insurance companies electronically, by mail or fax
  • Group accounts by payer and submit for claim status inquiries via web portals
  • Request copy of cancelled checks from payers as needed
  • Search internet databases for information on insurance company, employer, and patient when applicable
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment and achieve monthly QA and productivity goals
  • Ability to perform review on accounts for expected reimbursement to determine if additional payment should be pursued when applicable


Qualifications



  • 2 years’ experience in Healthcare reimbursement, physician’s office, clinic, or a healthcare revenue cycle (claims, billing, coding, reimbursement etc.), role is required
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to work with various EHR software (example: EPIC, Cerner, Meditech etc.)
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook etc.) required
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; professional phone etiquette

Physical requirements:

  • Normal, corrective vision range; ability to see color and to distinguish letters, numbers and symbols
  • Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, bend and reach
  • Ability to reach with hands and arms
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery
