SUNY Maritime's Writing Center invites interested and qualified professionals to apply for a tutor position beginning in the Fall of 2025. The Writing Center supplements instruction from any and all courses across degree programs, especially those with reading and composition assignments/requirements. The center's tutors model reading strategies, and writing and revision techniques, teaching and training its student clients rather than evaluating or editing their work, so those clients may improve their literacy and class performance, and ultimately become better and more self-sufficient students. Th professional tutor will also lead training seminars for the Writing Center staff and writing workshops for students both independently and jointly with the Writing Center's Faculty Coordinator.

Classification/Salary Range: The anticipated hourly rate for the position is $28.00 - $30.00 per hour. Review of applications will commence immediately and conclude when position is filled
