A brief overview

The Engineering Claims Manager is responsible for overseeing the evaluation, management, and resolution of engineering-related claims, ensuring all activities are conducted with accuracy, timeliness, and in compliance with contractual, legal, and regulatory requirements. For the purposes of this role, "Claims" refers to both assertions or demands made against the contractor alleging deficiencies in workmanship, materials, or failure to meet contractual obligations, and formal requests or change orders submitted by the contractor seeking adjustments to the contract price, schedule, or scope of work. This position serves as a vital bridge between technical engineering expertise and effective claims management, supporting internal teams and external stakeholders in resolving claims efficiently while mitigating associated risks.

What you will do

  • Lead the end-to-end management of engineering and technical claims, including investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and settlement.
  • Analyze technical documentation, project specifications, and engineering reports to assess claim validity and scope.
  • Collaborate with legal teams, underwriters, loss adjusters, and technical experts to support effective claim resolution.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, company policies, and contractual requirements throughout the claims process.
  • Provide guidance and training to junior claims staff and engineers on best practices in claims assessment and documentation.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed claim records using claims management systems.
  • Monitor trends in claims and provide insights to underwriting and risk management teams.
  • Prepare regular reports and updates for senior management on claim status, risks, and outcomes.
  • Participate in audits, internal reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manage external vendors and consultants to ensure cost-effective and high-quality service delivery.

Qualifications

  • Masters in a relevant field (engineering, law, business administration) with 5 years of pharmaceutical industry experience or
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field with 10 years of pharmaceutical industry experience
  • 5-10 years of engineering and project management experience in contract administration, claims management, legal or commercial roles in engineering, construction, controlling or procurement (preferred)
  • Comprehensive understanding of end-to-end project management, including scope, design, implementation, and validation.
  • Deep expertise in FDA regulations, cGMP standards, and 21 CFR Parts 11, 210, 211, and 820.
  • Advanced ability to interpret contracts, manage claims, and collaborate effectively with vendors and external partners.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on clarity, documentation, and stakeholder alignment.
  • Proactive and solutions-focused approach to issue resolution, risk mitigation, and cross-functional coordination.
  • Highly organized and self-directed, with proven success in managing multiple priorities under pressure.
  • Collaborative team player committed to delivering high-impact results in fast-paced, regulated environments.

Base salary range: $119,840 - $164,780

Placement of new hires in this wage range is based on several factors including education, skill sets, experience, and training.
