Staffing Pros, a division of VETS Inc., is recruiting for a full-time Sr. Chiller Technician in Houston or Dallas, TX.

Our client is seeking a Sr. Chiller Technician (Houston, TX or Dallas, TX) to perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on air-cooled chiller-based systems. This role ensures the uninterrupted performance of mechanical systems by supporting chillers, pumps, VFDs, controls, and piping components. The technician will work closely with network operations and controls teams to maintain communication systems, remote monitoring, and plant performance. This position involves hands-on field service work, emergency response, and national travel—primarily within Texas.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform Maintenance & Repairs Conduct routine maintenance and corrective service on air-cooled chiller systems and mechanical components; Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with chillers, circulating pumps, expansion tanks, air separators, and VFDs; Execute mechanical and electronic repairs and replace faulty components to optimize system performance
  • System Inspections & Controls Perform refrigerant inspections and pressure checks; make adjustments as needed; Service and maintain electrical/electronic components related to chiller operations; Collaborate with NOC and controls technicians to maintain control communication and remote monitoring
  • Emergency & After-Hours Support Respond to service calls and support operational issues during on-call shifts; Perform pipe servicing tasks such as soldering, brazing, and grooved pipe installations
  • Documentation & Safety Accurately document service calls, repairs, and inspections; Support new system installations and commissioning when required; Maintain clean, safe work areas and adhere to OSHA and company safety protocols
  • Travel Travel to work sites nationwide, with most work located in Texas

Must Have’s:

  • High school diploma or GED; Minimum 3–5 years of experience servicing commercial HVAC systems with chiller expertise
  • EPA 608 Universal Certification
  • Solid understanding of thermodynamics and refrigeration cycles
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lift 75 lbs., climb ladders, and work in extreme weather conditions
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office or work order/ticketing software
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, travel, and be part of an on-call rotation

Nice to Have’s:

  • 3+ years of formal HVAC trade school training
  • Carrier factory training or OEM certifications
  • Familiarity with BAS systems and cloud-based remote monitoring platforms
  • OSHA 1910 Arc Flash Certification
  • Experience supporting system installations and commissioning

Location:

Houston, TX or Dallas, TX (with nationwide travel, mostly within Texas)

Salary:

$30–$50 per hour, based on experience
