Summary/Objective

The Senior Cost Estimator position is responsible for leading, directing, and completing cost estimating tasks and assignments. When needed, they will assist the department manager in managing the estimating team's staff, budgeted hours, workload, and processes. This position requires close client coordination to ensure project deliverables are met at the highest level of quality, and it requires careful oversight and management of project teams and budgeted hours. The Senior Cost Estimator is responsible for working with the cost estimating staff, department staff, and management to provide advanced cost estimating services, mentorship, and the development of in-house estimating protocols. This position has a higher level of experience and responsibility than the Cost Estimator I and II positions.

Position Type

This is a full-time position.

Essential Functions

  • Direct cost estimating projects, including budgeting of staff time, managing work quality, developing and maintaining client relationships, and coordinating with other consultants.
  • Direct, manage, and ensure the timely, quality completion of cost estimating tasks and deliverables.
  • Interfaces with internal and external clients to produce accurate costs and scopes of work based on project drawings and specifications.
  • Performs accurate quantity surveys to estimate the cost of materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor's work for all trades, ascertaining that all CSI categories of work have been accounted for prior to submitting estimate for review.
  • Supports the department manager with in-house cost estimating projects by managing workload and quality of work.
  • Analyzes information and develops budgets, from conceptual stages through final construction documentation as required by individual projects.
  • Responds to client requests for explanations of cost estimates submitted by the cost estimating team.
  • Develops relationships with local vendors and contractors to assist in collecting accurate cost data.
  • Represents estimating team in internal and external project meetings.
  • Provides thorough QC checks of estimates to be submitted to clients.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred
  • 10 or more years of demonstrated proficiency in Cost Estimating, or equivalent prior experience and/or accreditation is preferred
  • PE or AACE industry certification or equivalent is preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Cost Estimating, or equivalent prior experience and/or accreditation is required
  • Experience with InEight software is a plus
  • Experience in using RS Means estimating guides, as well as advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Bluebeam Revu is preferred
  • Ability to complete tasks independently with strong attention to detail
  • Possesses exceptional written, verbal, and graphic communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to balance priorities
  • Proficiency in organizational and time management skills. Able to prioritize and multi-task; proactive and deadline-oriented

Travel

Ability to travel to various job sites and Envision offices as needed.

Salary

$115,000 - $175,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
