The Director, Trade Relations is responsible for managing U.S. based retail, pharmacy and wholesaler distribution partnerships and channel activities related to the distribution of Arcutis products. Provides insight in optimizing the business relationships and outcomes with targeted accounts and providing Arcutis Leadership with proactive insights on channel trends and means of improving the Company’s position in the market.  Ongoing responsibilities for management of agreements with different channel partners, assuring commercial activity meets terms of agreement(s). Addressing any issues occurring within agreement by working with key Arcutis parties and the wholesaler/distributor representatives to resolve any issues in a timely and effective manner. Collaboration with order management to address any evolving issues in partner ordering patterns.

 

Serves as a touchpoint to distribution channel partners (retail, 3PL, and wholesaler), attend major relevant industry events to represent Arcutis, arrange for and conduct business update discussions with Arcutis business partners.  Gain/report key insights regarding industry trends and practices that impact Arcutis and its products. Works cross functionally where needed and within business conduct guidelines with Market Access, Commercial Operations, Marketing, Legal, Drug Safety, Supply Chain, Quality Affairs and Finance. Establishes C suite multi-level relationships with channel partners, allowing for significant, constructive, tactical strategic dialogue between the parties. Produces accurate, timely and insightful business reviews with support to on-going data/dashboard reports; summarizing major issues, trends and potential course corrections required in managing the distribution process and partners. 

This field-based position will report to the Executive Director, Trade & Distribution. The candidate must live in the continental United States and be able to travel up to 50% (attend conferences, visit customers and attend meetings in Westlake Village, CA)


Roles & Responsibilities

  1. Contribute to the management of retail, pharmacy, wholesaler relationships and leads development of account level plans.  
  2. Leads contract negotiations and monitoring of those agreements/amendments via dashboard reports and scheduling quarterly business reviews. 
  3. The candidate will assist Arcutis brand leadership in a variety of business development initiatives to drive product pull through and to enhance 3PL, retail, pharmacy, and wholesaler relationships in a compliant manner. 
  4. Attendance required at various industry conferences, such as Asembia, NASP and PCMA. The management of distribution operations will also include managing wholesale channel inventory, return goods and stocking issues.
  5. Collaborates with National Account Directors and Patient Access Managers. 
  6. Ensures execution of approved and finalized channel contracts via metrics reporting and performance tracking. 
  7. Monitors channel partner inventories and implements plan(s) to ensure appropriate inventories are in place to meet demand as needed.
  8. Responsible for continuously collaborating with brand and account teams on innovative payer, trade & pharmacy distribution models based on business objectives and brand strategies.
  9. Review and monitor all returns from contracted partners to ensure in accordance with Arcutis’ Return Goods Policy. 


Education and Experience

  • 10 + years in retail, pharmacy, wholesaler account management, and advanced contract negotiation experience with a bachelor’s degree in Business, Pharmacy, Marketing or related fields OR 10+ years in retail, 3PL, pharmacy, wholesaler account management, and advanced contract negotiation experience with an MBA, MS/MA degree preferred.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Word and fluent in conversational and written English.
  • The position requires travel throughout the continental United States and based on business needs travel to Arcutis home office in Westlake Village, California.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current policies and guidelines as it relates to contracts and services in the managed care environment with a focus on distribution

Competencies & Skills

  • Proven success in negotiating retail, wholesaler and pharmacy distribution agreements, data agreements, understands FMV and how to utilize talking points and resistance training in a negotiation
  • Ability to understand and communicate data analytics, leadership in C suite relationships to support the needed strategic and business planning experience needed for this position. distribution model criteria
  • The candidate must be self-motivated, work well in a team environment, is skilled in developing relationships to support working cross functionally in multiple departments in Westlake Village
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple priorities and responsibilities simultaneously and follow-through on issues in a timely manner
