Department Overview

The Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine (PACCM) provides expert care for patients with lung diseases, allergies and immunological disorders, sleep disorders, and post-critical illness needs in our outpatient clinics, pulmonary and allergy patients in our hospitals, and critically ill patients in our intensive care units. In addition to our commitment to outstanding clinical care, we are proud of our extensive research programs from basic science to clinical trials. Our educational mission includes teaching on many levels, including our four fellowship programs in Pulmonary Critical Care, Critical Care Medicine, Allergy and Clinical Immunology, and Sleep Medicine. Function/Duties of Position

The duties of this position include:

 

  • Clinical (80-100%): Provision of inpatient or outpatient clinical duties in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, as assigned by the Division Chief.
  • Research (~20%): Conduct independent clinical research.

 This position may include 0.2 aFTE to serve as Section Chief of Sleep Medicine. In this 0.2 aFTE role, you will be expected to guide clinic operations in collaboration with the Practice Manager (clinic) and the Senior Director (sleep labs), regularly review financial performance of the adult program, identify opportunities for programmatic growth, develop educational programming in collaboration with sleep faculty within the Veterans Administration Sleep Section, support research priorities, and advocate on behalf of Section members. A separate position description will be maintained for the section chief role.

 

Educational responsibilities include meeting the general expectation related to the Fellowship and Resident rotations when on call, presenting at and otherwise participating in division grand rounds and other conferences. May be assigned to a Sleep Medicine fellow as a mentor. Will participate in fellowship recruitment. Further administrative and educational responsibilities will be developed in conjunction with the division chief.


Required Qualifications
  • MD/DO or other qualifying doctorate degree
  • Completion of an accredited Sleep Medicine fellowship
