Overview

Reporting into the VP, CPG Category Marketing, the Portfolio Innovation Partner will be responsible for bringing new products to the market and determining where we should be spending our time. Should we be investing in new categories? Should we be expanding existing categories? How do we capture the full potential of category growth trends across distribution channels for incremental business impact? The Portfolio Innovation Partner will work cross functionally to answer these questions and in turn steer the future of the CPG product portfolio. The position is hybrid and based in the corporate office in Ontario, California.



Responsibilities

  • Define and Own Portfolio Vision: Lead the long-term vision and strategy for the AFNA product portfolio, grounded in a deep understanding of our brands, consumers, and business objectives.
  • Opportunity Identification: Identify and evaluate growth opportunities across new and existing categories, including white-space areas, partnerships, acquisitions, and channel expansion.
  • New Platform Development: Lead projects for new platforms or that touch multiple categories, from ideation through execution, including product briefs and lifecycle management.
    • Develop a comprehensive portfolio strategy, including incremental target segments, go-to-market approaches, and financial assessments.
  • Strategic Roadmap Alignment: Partner with category marketing to shape annual product roadmaps aligned with AFNA growth goals and strategic priorities.
  • Consumer & Market Insights: Leverage consumer insights, market research, and competitive analysis to inform product strategy, value propositions, and feature sets.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Category Directors, Consumer Insights, Sales, Marketing, and Operations to drive informed product decisions.
  • Performance Measurement: Lead the identification of key KPIs to assess the success of new platforms and strategic initiatives.
  • Process Optimization: Continuously improve the new product development process through opportunity assessment and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Governance & Compliance: Ensure adherence to all AFNA processes, standards, and policies.


Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree. MBA degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of Innovation/ brand management experience. Consulting or strategy experience a plus.
  • 10+ years of previous relevant experience. Sr Manager or Director experience a plus.
  • Demonstrated success leading cross functional teams and project management.
  • Experience launching physical products into the market.
  • Proven financial management skills and P&L literacy (general manager mindset)
  • Understanding of retailer landscape: Grocery, Mass, Club, etc
  • Demonstrated communication skills across a variety of tools and audiences, including senior leaders.
  • Proven working knowledge of market research and demonstrated analytical skills. Fluent in Circana/Nielsen POS data
  • Excited and willing to try new foods, including animal proteins. Demonstrated passion for global foods preferable
  • Ability to work in a fast moving, fast changing environment, adept at prioritizing and juggling multiple projects at once
