NOTE: This role is hybrid and requires working in the office (Alexandria, VA) 2 days every other week or remote. Travel is required (up to 20% of the year) for meetings and events, including travel to WEF’s annual conference, WEFTEC.


How This Position Contributes to the Team:

An environmental education association in Alexandria, VA is seeking a Membership

Specialist to support the Membership team by providing administrative and

programmatic support. This position will be a critical resource for the team, providing

exceptional member support and assisting with execution of membership processes and

strategies. The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service skills, attention to

detail, and an interest in strategic data collection and analysis.


Key Responsibilities:

- Support individual and organizational membership recruitment and renewal

strategies.

- Update database records and ensure accurate membership changes in the

database (Fonteva).

- Manage and report on regular member communications and engagement.

- Produce membership data reports while ensuring accuracy.

- Assist with volunteer management and community engagement.

- Assist with customer and member outreach to improve retention and

engagement.

- Deliver exceptional customer service in response to customer inquiries received

via mail, email, phone; etc.

- Connect with other staff and stakeholders to coordinate membership activities

and support.

- Attend and support annual conference and other events as needed.

- Performs other related duties as assigned within the scope of the role


Qualifications:

- High School Diploma required

- Bachelor’s degree preferred.

- 2-4+ years of experience in membership association or similar organization.

- Strong customer service skills with a member-first mindset.

- Ability to work collaboratively in formal teams and informal working groups, as well

as independently.

- Detail-oriented with sufficient organizational skills.

- Effective written and verbal communication skills.

- Experience with Fonteva or similar membership management systems preferred.

- Maybe required to travel at least 15 -20%


This person will work primarily in an office environment using standard office equipment.
