VAE, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Sr. Security Engineer to join our team. The Sr. Security Engineer will play a critical role in safeguarding information systems by designing, implementing, and managing security measures that ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of mission-critical systems. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in information assurance, security engineering, and risk management.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

VAE, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Sr. Security Engineer to join our team. The Sr. Security Engineer will play a critical role in safeguarding information systems by designing, implementing, and managing security measures that ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of mission-critical systems. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in information assurance, security engineering, and risk management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive security analysis, including risk assessments and vulnerability evaluations, to identify potential threats to networks, systems, and applications.
  • Design, implement, and maintain security architectures that align with government regulations and industry best practices.
  • Perform system and network security assessments, penetration testing, and security audits to ensure compliance with DoD, Army, and federal security standards.
  • Develop, review, and maintain security documentation, including System Security Plans (SSP), Security Assessment Reports (SARs), and other Certification & Accreditation (C&A) artifacts.
  • Provide technical expertise in security product evaluation, selection, and deployment to safeguard information systems.
  • Support risk management framework (RMF) processes and ensure compliance with DoD 8570.01-M and Army Information Assurance Training and Certification Best Business Practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and government customers to establish and maintain strong security governance processes.
  • Monitor system security posture, respond to incidents, and implement mitigation strategies to reduce potential vulnerabilities.


QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Minimum of 10 years of direct experience in Information Security is required.
  • Demonstrated expertise in:
    • Information Assurance (IA) principles and practices
    • Security engineering and architectures
    • Network and systems security assessments
    • Risk and vulnerability management
    • Implementation of security controls and monitoring mechanisms
    • Certification and Accreditation (C&A) processes
  • Must meet DoD 8570.01-M IASAE-II certification requirements (e.g., CISSP-ISSAP, CISSP-ISSEP, or CSSLP).
  • Strong communication and documentation skills with the ability to develop security policies, plans, and reports.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance
