VAE, Inc. is seeking a highly experienced Information Systems Engineer Lead (Level 3) to support critical U.S. Army and Department of Defense (DoD) modernization initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leading contractor teams, translating complex business requirements into innovative IT solutions, and ensuring the delivery of secure, scalable, and mission-ready systems. This position requires a strong background in systems engineering, telecommunications infrastructure, and information assurance, combined with leadership skills to guide technical teams and interface with diverse stakeholders.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

VAE, Inc. is seeking a highly experienced Information Systems Engineer Lead (Level 3) to support critical U.S. Army and Department of Defense (DoD) modernization initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leading contractor teams, translating complex business requirements into innovative IT solutions, and ensuring the delivery of secure, scalable, and mission-ready systems. This position requires a strong background in systems engineering, telecommunications infrastructure, and information assurance, combined with leadership skills to guide technical teams and interface with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead contractor teams in translating business requirements into IT requirements, system designs, and acquisition packages.
  • Conduct in-depth engineering analysis of IT alternatives in support of U.S. Army and DoD strategic modernization initiatives.
  • Design and implement telecommunications enhancements for medium and large-scale infrastructures.
  • Provide technical interface support to IT end users, DoD IT service providers, USAISEC, and program management offices.
  • Apply engineering and scientific principles, computer technologies, and human factors engineering to design, integrate, and manage enterprise information systems.
  • Develop and optimize system architectures, standards, and databases to ensure interoperability and compliance with DoD requirements.
  • Lead system integration, testing, and evaluation activities to ensure performance, security, and reliability.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across multi-disciplinary project teams.
  • Prepare and deliver technical documentation, engineering assessments, and reports to stakeholders


QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a closely related field from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • 10+ years of experience in Information Systems Engineering across one or more IT domains
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance
  • Strong expertise in:
    • Systems engineering principles and processes
    • Information assurance and cybersecurity practices
    • Telecommunications infrastructure design (medium to large-scale)
    • System integration, testing, and lifecycle management
    • Database development and data integration
  • Proven experience leading technical teams and contractor staff on government programs.
  • Knowledge of Risk Management Framework (RMF), NIST guidelines, and DoD IT policies.
