The Graduate Program is the division of Harvard Law School responsible for the Master of Laws (LL.M.) and the Doctor of Juridical Science (S.J.D.) degrees, and for various aspects of graduate legal studies, including the Visiting Scholar/Visiting Researcher program. Within the Graduate Program, the Director of Admissions and Financial Aid oversees admissions, financial aid, billing, enrollment, and outreach for all three programs.

As Director of Admissions and Financial Aid, you will:

• Oversee all aspects of comprehensive enrollment management for LL.M. and S.J.D degree programs and the Visitors Program.
• Direct and manage LL.M. candidate evaluation process, personally reviewing a large number of the 1,600+ applications each year, and supervising other reviewers to ensure consistency and timeliness of review process.
• Oversee all aspects of Graduate Program financial aid administration, including financial aid budgeting and fund management, evaluation of financial need, billing, compliance, disbursement of funds, and financial aid reporting.
• In partnership with the Assistant Dean, develop, establish and implement strategic goals for Graduate Program admissions and financial aid.
• Supervise the following operations: preparation and delivery of information (in all media) to prospective and admitted students; preparation of statistical and other reports to the Graduate Committee and other Harvard offices; collaboration with Harvard International Office on visa matters, ensuring compliance with visa regulations; maintenance and enhancement of admissions and financial aid database and information systems.
• Support alumni relations and development activities.
• Perform other duties and tasks as needed.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and 8 or more years of related experience (law practice or experience in higher education/academia) with an understanding of international legal systems. Candidates holding a JD or equivalent law degree will be considered with 5 or more years’ related experience.

Additional Qualifications and Skills

We are looking for people who are/have:

• JD (or equivalent law degree)
• Strong written, oral, interpersonal, numerical, organizational, and supervisory skills.
• Excellent judgment and discretion. Must be self-directed and able to manage workflow in deadline-driven environment with frequently changing priorities.
• Proficiency in at least one foreign language.
• Experience living/working abroad a big plus.
• The ability to respond with flexibility and imagination to unanticipated situations.
• Enjoy working with international students and a wide array of constituent groups, representing the Graduate Program at meetings, conferences and outreach opportunities both within Harvard and beyond.

Standard Hours/Schedule: Full-Time. During peak times of the year, weekend and holiday work often needed.
