NOTE: This role is hybrid and requires working in the office (Alexandria, VA) 2 days every other week or remote. Travel is required (up to 20% of the year) for meetings and events, including travel to WEF’s annual conference, WEFTEC.
An environmental education association in Alexandria, VA is seeking a Membership
Manager to strengthen individual membership recruitment and retention strategies. This
position will support the Director, Community Engagement – Membership in increasing
member engagement, maintaining strong member retention, growing recruitment, and
providing exceptional member and customer support. The ideal candidate will be
experienced with individual membership strategies, possess excellent customer service
skills and high attention to detail, and have an interest in strategic data collection and
analysis.
Responsibilities:
- Manage individual membership recruitment and renewal strategies.
- Implement and oversee renewal, recruitment, and onboarding campaigns.
- Collaborate with interdepartmental stakeholders to ensure the membership value
proposition is clearly and consistently communicated through all communication
vehicles, including website, social media, and marketing collateral.
- Work with the Membership Team to maintain and support the development of
member benefits and creatively communicate value to members.
- Analyze and report on membership data and survey results to track and support
strategic planning initiatives.
- Ensure exceptional customer service in response to customer inquiries, including
overseeing an external customer support team.
- Maintain data integrity in the database (Fonteva).
- Attend and support the annual conference and other events as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned within the scope of the role
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business or relevant field.
- 5+ years in a membership role in an association or membership-based organization
- Experience with data management, member communications, and membership
engagement and retention programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge of association management systems. Experience with
Fonteva AMS preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy of information, including the ability to organize
and analyze large amounts of data.
- Strong customer service skills with a member-first mindset.
- Ability to work collaboratively in formal teams and informal working groups, as well
as Independently.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to travel 15-20% of the time
This person will work primarily in an office environment using standard office equipment.
