Data Steward, Community Engagement

The Data Steward (Community Relationships & Engagement) is responsible for overseeing the quality, accuracy, and integrity of community engagement and relationship data across the organization. This role works closely with the community engagement team, data management team, and stakeholders from across the organization to identify organizational and divisional data that must be managed, ensuring such data is collected, stored, maintained, and available to organizational stakeholders in a manner that supports the organization's strategic and operational goals. The scope of responsibilities include data governance & quality, data architecture & integration, data security & privacy, and metadata management. This position operates under the principles and guidelines of the Data Management Association (DAMA) Body of Knowledge (DMBoK). The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, with a strong background in enterprise data management and possesses a passion for using data to drive meaningful community impact.

The Data Steward, Community Engagement, reports to the Associate Vice President of Community Engagement. This individual will work closely with leadership and program managers across the community engagement division, the data management team, and stakeholders from across the organization who regularly utilize community relationships and engagement data as part of their daily work. The individual will work closely with staff responsible for organizational data architecture and management.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Management, Information Systems, Statistics, (may be a similar field) or related experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in data stewardship, data management, or a similar role.
  • Proficiency in data management tools and CRM systems.
  • Strong understanding of data governance principles, data quality management, and data protection regulations.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of the DAMA DMBoK framework and its application in a business environment.
  • Experience in developing and enforcing data standards and procedures.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of and ability to work with diverse constituencies.
  • Self-directed and able to work under minimal supervision. Comfortable taking initiative and developing proposals with minimal direction.
  • Strong computer-based application skills (e.g. MAC; cloud services; videoconferencing; Office & Outlook, Salesforce, Google Suite).

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in utilization of Salesforce as a CRM
  • Experience in data management at a non-profit or community-focused organization
  • Working knowledge of data governance tools (i.e. Data Cookbook, Collibra, AWS Data Zone)
  • Certification in a relevant field (e.g., DAMA Certified Data Management Professional - CDMP)

Salary Range / Pay Grade:

$78,000 (Minimum) - $97,500 (Mid-point) / B-6

Starting pay is typically from the minimum up to the midpoint of the pay range and varies based on experience.
