Main Purpose of the Job:  

The Storage Clerk is primarily responsible for the retrieval, expungement, and scanning of District Court records.  The Storage Clerk maintains inventory, transfers, and transports District Court records as directed by Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Scan District Court records into MDEC database.  Prep records as necessary for proper scanning. 

Retrieve District Court records upon request.  Use research techniques and software systems to locate records as needed.  Send to customer via email, USPS or other method.

Expunge District Court records from Archival databases.

Transport District Court records to and from courthouses, Archives, and Jessup warehouse facility.

Operate microfilm scanner to retrieve and or expunge records from microfilm database.

Maintain Records Warehouse; inventory and improve organization of materials, properly maintain shredded materials for proper disposal. etc.  Other related duties as needed.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma (or GED equivalent).

Experience: One (1) year of work experience in a warehouse, records/storage maintenance facility, or business where materials, equipment, or other items are received, stored or issued.

Travel:

Occasional travel to field locations throughout the State of Maryland. Must have a valid Maryland Driver?s License.

Physical Demands:

Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Knowledge of:

Knowledge of research techniques.

Knowledge of alpha and numeric filing systems.

Ability to sit for long periods.

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Ability to stoop, climb, bend, and stretch.

Ability to work in any weather environment.

Ability to operate document scanner.

Ability to drive a State of Maryland vehicle.

Ability to sort, process, verify, and proofread.

Ability to use personal computer, fax machine, and postage meter.

Ability to communicate effectively with court personnel and other agencies in person and by telephone.

Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

Ability to distinguish various types of District Court forms and cases.

Ability to use Transmittal Forms of Records to obtain box numbers for case file destinations.
