Summary

 The CNC Reliability & Operations Specialist is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable performance of CNC machining equipment. This role combines machine set-up, operation, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and process optimization to maximize uptime and production output. The Specialist plays a key role in executing preventative maintenance programs, monitoring machine health, and collaborating with engineers, team leaders, and material planners to support continuous improvement in machining processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and monitor CNC machines to produce precision components.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance tasks, including cleaning, lubrication, inspection, calibration, and part replacement, to extend machine life and reduce downtime.
  • Document and track preventative maintenance activities to ensure compliance with reliability standards and production schedules.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve machine, tooling, or process issues across multiple shifts to minimize disruptions.
  • Develop, modify, and optimize CNC programs.
  • Support machine changeovers, tooling adjustments, and programs with a focus on operator safety and efficiency.
  • Coordinate with engineering and production teams to implement process improvements and tooling enhancements.
  • Analyze machine performance data to identify trends, proactively address reliability concerns, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Train and mentor machine operators on safe operation, basic troubleshooting, and routine maintenance practices.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability and reduce production costs.
  • Maintain compliance with company quality standards (e.g., ISO 9001) and workplace safety requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in machining, manufacturing technology, or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of CNC machining experience, including set-up, operation, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong knowledge of CNC programming. 
  • Hands-on experience performing preventative maintenance in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and GD&T.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail and focus on quality.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across shifts.
  • United States Citizenship / ITAR compliance required by contract
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen
  • Ability to pass a background investigation, including but not limited to nationwide criminal record search, and other relevant background information deemed necessary by RSI.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma.

 Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, and operate machinery for extended periods.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required in designated areas.
