Summary
The Purchasing Manager supervises the daily activities of the purchasing function, reviews purchasing decisions, orders, and vendor contracts and approves as required per purchasing procedures. The Purchasing Manager is responsible for development, maintenance and execution of the corporate purchasing business management system (BMS), including the establishment and measurement of commodity-based purchasing and risk mitigation strategies. This position requires a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5-7 years of purchasing/procurement experience, with 1-3 years supervisory experience in leading people.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Manage the purchasing and procurement of all buying activities across the organization. This includes but not limited to raw materials, purchased parts, 3PL activities, and indirect material. Ensures that goods and services are acquired in a timely, efficient and consistent manner.
- Work with Quality, Engineering and Buyers to Identify alternative suppliers to fill present and future needs, then support the request for proposal process from identifying opportunities through implementation of the new vendor relationship.
- Minimize the cost of products and services which meet our needs, and establish strong vendor relationships.
- Develop and execute strategies and practices directed at improving service and ensures compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Develop and maintain a strong procurement culture by building and maintaining solid relationships across the organization to identify opportunities to improve purchasing power, reduce costs, and increase service levels.
- Manage the procurement process through analyzing procurement activity, identifying opportunities for national and regional vendor relationships, prepare business cases for the opportunities, prepare Requests for Proposals (RFP’s), solicit and evaluate vendor responses to RFP’s, recommend vendor selection, and implement the selected vendor relationship.
- Negotiate contract terms and service levels.
- Monitor procurement processes and to conduct long-range planning.
- Supervise, motivate, and evaluate staff engaged in procurement activities.
- Plan for the effective utilization of resources for the purchasing area.

Qualifications:
- 5-7 years’ experience in Manufacturing Supply Chain Management, preferably in a high-tech electronics environment, with 1-2 years supervisory experience in leading people.
- MRP shop floor control systems experience.
- Proven ability to work effectively across functional boundaries.
- Proven ability to develop, maintain and follow procedures in a regulated environment (AS9100 preferred).
Education/Experience:
Requires a Bachelor’s degree and 7 years related experience as Production Buyer in high-tech electronics environment.
1-3 years supervisory experience in leading people.
