Position Title: Security Processing Specialist

Position Type: Full-Time

Work schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30AM - 4PM

Location: The U S Food and Drug Administration – Silver Spring, Maryland - please ensure you have reliable transportation before you apply

Salary: Commensurate with experience

Position Description:

• Perform administrative and clerical support by screening, reviewing, and processing necessary security forms.
• Provide assistance in servicing agency-wide organizations by fingerprinting personnel and providing guidance as required.
• Use word processing and spreadsheets to create, copy, and edit, store, retrieve, and print a variety of standardized documents.
• Transmit, receive, and/or acknowledge various information such as electronic mail, messages, and other information.
• Tactfully and professionally greet customers and visitors, operate a multi-line telephone to determine the nature of the calls and direct callers to appropriate persons, and distribute incoming and outgoing mail.
• Typically, reports to a supervisor or manager, supervisor directs staff through face-to-face meetings.

Duties will involve but are not limited to the following:

• Fingerprinting employees, applicants, contractors, volunteers, etc
• Verifying identity and citizenship
• Evaluating and analyzing applicant data for accuracy and completion
• Entering pertinent information into automated databases
• Conducting badge processing for employees, applicants, contractors, volunteers, etc including enrollment, issuance, and post-issuance functions for the credential life cycle in accordance with federal government security policy, Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12) and Federal Information Processing Standards 201-1 (FIPS 201-1)
• Opening and preparing the personnel security-badging office for daily operations
• Capturing biometric photographs for Personal Identity Verification (PIV) card
• Providing guidance to customers experiencing issues pertaining to their PIV card
• Serving as the liaison between customers and the personnel security specialist

• Fingerprinting experience is a must!
