Position Title:Assistant Residential Director - Strategic Partnerships

Location: Owensboro, KY

Description:

Under the direct supervision of the Senior Director, the Assistant Residential Director assists with the daily operations of the residential program at their assigned locations. This includes administrative tasks, general office functions, and working as a Direct Support Professional during times of critical staff shortages. This position requires weekly visits of all residences.

Essential Functions:

Staff Supervision

  • Provides supervision to Direct Support Professionals (DSP) and Family Home Providers (FHP) on an ongoing basis.
  • Makes regular contact with each assigned DSP and FHP to provide support and maintain lines of communication.
  • Demonstrates competence and knowledge on topics required to safely support clients according to clients’ person-centered service plans.
  • Develops action plans with employees when a need for improvement has been identified.
  • Completes disciplinary forms under the direction of the Senior Director.
  • Completes site-specific training for new and re-assigned staff.
  • Fosters collaborative working relationships among staff and members of the leadership team.
  • Assists with pre-screening of applicants, including DSPs, FHPs, and Natural Supports.
  • Monitors Relias trainings to ensure timely completion by DSPs and FHPs.

Oversight of Client Residences

  • Oversees the daily operation of client residences.
  • Completes scheduled and unannounced visits on alternating shifts to all assigned staffed residences and family homes for monthly formal home inspections and weekly informal house visits.
  • Acts as backup staff coverage as needed.
  • Maintains a safe and clean work environment through the monitoring of incident reports, work orders, and home inspections per agency guidelines.
  • Maintains control of and access to the residential homes by maintaining duplicate keys in the area office and monitoring staff to maintain control of their keys.
  • Reports staffing issues or concerns to Residential Coordinator and Senior Director immediately and provides necessary guidance and supervision to the affected DSP/FHP to ensure timely resolution.

Client Care

  • Assists with delivery of documentation to staff in preparation for medical appointments and receipt of appointment documentation to Medical Assistant following medical appointments.
  • Participates in medication review process as directed during home inspections, house visits, and designated office times.
  • Checks all medications, medication documentation, and accuracy of prescriptions at services sites during home visits and inspections (3-point match on MAR, script copy, and medication label).
  • Assists Residential Coordinator as needed with collecting and distributing clients’ grocery and spending checks and gathering receipts from all related purchases.
  • Treats all clients with dignity and respect.
  • Advocates for clients’ rights with regard to their health, safety, and overall wellbeing to promote quality of care.
  • Models appropriate staff-client interactions expected from residential staff.

On-Call and Incident Management

  • Participates in a residential on-call rotation with Residential Coordinator and Senior Director to ensure DSPs and FHPs have 24-hour access to management as necessary.
  • Assists completing incident reports of a critical and non-critical nature, including the required notifications and follow-ups.
  • Enters incident reports into the Medicaid Waiver Management Application (MWMA).

Administrative Duties

  • Completes home inspection reports and submits reports to Senior Director.
  • Completes thorough reviews of client home books and charts to identify and address discrepancies.
  • Copies, files, and distributes all appropriate paperwork for DSPs, FHPs, and clients.
  • Assists Senior Director with conducting staff meetings as directed. h. Ensures that all needed corrections, improvements, or modifications to services are completed timely and accurately.
  • Downloads annual documentation from MWMA and updates goals and objectives on agency documentation. j. Assists Residential Coordinator with procurement of expenditures related to client care which will be reimbursable by Medicaid or client funds.
  • Assists Senior Director with maintenance of the Prior Authorization (PA) grid.

Interdisciplinary Team Involvement

  • Works with Residential Coordinator to maintain regular communication with support coordination agencies to ensure effective communication and dissemination of information regarding clients receiving services.
  • Participates as a member of the interdisciplinary process on all occasions, unless instructed otherwise by the Senior Director.

Professional Development

  • Completes training timely and per training profile requirements for position as maintained by the HR/Training Department (i.e. Relias, College of Direct Supports, CPR/First-Aid, and Safe Medication classes).
  • Participates in skills enhancement activities, workshops, and trainings relating to position and program.

Performance Improvement and Quality Enhancement

  • Assists with ensuring Strategic’s compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory requirements including DDID, BH, CARF, and the Department of Medicaid standards.
  • Directly responsible for review and survey preparation.
  • Provides assistance during reviews and surveys.
  • Assists Senior Director with all plans of correction and monitoring activities as required by regulatory agencies.
  • Completes quality enhancement activities as required by and Senior Director.
  • Assists with developing and revising program policies and procedures as needed.
  • Adheres to Agency policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED; BA/BS preferred
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • At least two years of experience providing direct support to persons with a developmental disability

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • 80-90% of time is spent standing, walking, kneeling, or reaching while working with people receiving services.
  • Requires full body range of motion.
  • Requires vision and hearing sufficient to perform essential functions.
  • Requires emotional stability necessary to perform essential functions.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with clients, clients' families, staff, and other interdisciplinary team members to promote quality service.
  • Must be able to read, understand, and implement written and oral instruction.
  • Must be able to perform required documentation.
  • Requires the ability to perform CPR (training provided).
  • Requires the ability to drive a vehicle.
