Gaven Industries, Inc.

The Product & Sales Engineer plays a critical role in supporting Gaven Industries’ customer-facing efforts by providing technical and design expertise to the Sales team. This role ensures that proposals, submittals, and customer-driven product variations are supported with accurate and manufacturable designs, bridging the gap between Sales, Engineering, and Production. The Product & Sales Engineer leverages deep product knowledge to adapt designs to customer requirements, prepare technical documentation, and support early-stage design concepts, while maintaining alignment with Gaven’s performance and quality standards. Unlike pricing-focused sales roles, this position emphasizes design support and technical accuracy throughout the sales and proposal process.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and design support to the Sales team, including generating product concepts, technical drawings, and submittals in response to customer requests and project pursuits.
  • Develop and maintain 3D models, 2D drawings, and technical submittals using Autodesk Inventor and Revit.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, and Product Management to ensure proposed designs meet customer requirements, performance standards, and manufacturing capabilities.
  • Prepare and refine Design and Architectural Submittals, ensuring documentation is accurate, complete, and aligned with project specifications.
  • Participate in pre-sales design reviews, providing input on feasibility, manufacturability, and product alignment with customer requirements.
  • Adapt existing Gaven products and solutions to meet unique customer needs, while maintaining compliance with technical and quality requirements.
  • Work with engineering, production, and supply chain teams to confirm proposed solutions are realistic, manufacturable, and cost-effective.
  • Support the development of standardized product configurations and design templates to streamline future sales support activities.
  • Assist with technical presentations and provide design documentation to internal and external stakeholders during the sales support process.
  • Maintain configuration control and clear documentation of all design support activities.
  • Contribute to Stage Gate processes in product development as they relate to customer-driven product modifications and early design support.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the Engineering and Sales teams.

Skills, Knowledge, Abilities

  • Proficiency in Autodesk Suite: Inventor, Revit, and Vault.
  • Strong ability to communicate technical details clearly to both engineers and non-technical sales staff/customers.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills with a focus on customer-driven design solutions.
  • Familiarity with BIM coordination and design submittal processes.
  • Strong collaboration skills to balance sales timelines with engineering and manufacturing requirements.
  • Knowledge of shielding systems, mechanical design, or related engineered systems is beneficial.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited school.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of related experience in engineering, product design, or technical sales support.
  • Experience supporting sales engineering activities, submittals, or customer-requested design modifications preferred.
