One POSTDOCTORAL POSITION is available in the laboratory of Mohamed Trebak at the University of Pittsburgh to study calcium signaling in the processes of remodeling, growth, migration, metabolism, and gene regulation, and how changes in ion channel expression and function contribute to cancer progression and to vascular and airway pathophysiology in models of vascular injury, hypertension, and asthma. The prospective candidate must have documented expertise in patch clamp electrophysiology, preferably with measurements of CRAC channel currents with high-quality published papers. This opportunity offers the candidate to learn state-of-the-art techniques such as advanced fluorescence microscopy, in vivo imaging, and other molecular biology and biochemistry techniques. Previous experience in either imaging, mutagenesis, metabolism, Biochemistry, mice models of disease, or ion channel signaling is highly preferred. Our lab is located in the Department of Pharmacology and Chemical Biology of the University of Pittsburgh-School of Medicine, with a strong commitment towards career development of young investigators in the field of cellular signaling. Candidates are encouraged to learn more about the ongoing research at our lab website (https://www.pharmacology.us/Faculty/MohamedTrebak?AspxAutoDetectCookieSupport=1) (trebaklab.com) and through published work in PubMed.
Qualifications: Effective written and verbal skills are essential. PhDs from Cell Biology, Bioengineering, Biophysics, Biochemistry, Physiology, Immunology, Pathology, and Molecular Biology who aspire to establish themselves as independent investigators are highly encouraged to apply.
