Position Title:Children's Therapist - Crowne

Location: Owensboro, KY

Description:

Job Summary:

The PPW Children’s Therapist will serve children, families, and/or groups who are dealing with various behavioral health and/or parental substance use challenges. The PPW Children’s Therapist position involves conducting assessments, treatment planning, and delivering evidence-based therapeutic interventions in an outpatient setting. The PPW Children’s Therapist will collaborate with other mental health professionals and community resources to provide comprehensive care.

Essential Functions:

Therapeutic Clinical Services:

  • Provides individual, and/or family therapy and other therapeutic interventions as appropriate to meet expectations of contracts, company policies and procedures, service modalities(s), and best practice expectations.
  • Demonstrates the ability to develop clinically appropriate individualized treatment plans in collaboration with clients, setting measurable goals and appropriate interventions and ensures plans are updated regularly based on client’s progress.
  • Provides appropriate services that are person-centered and relevant to diverse populations.
  • Demonstrates the ability to seek out consultation and supervision when appropriate based on situation, complexity, and potential risk factors.
  • Provides clinically appropriate interventions to crises including risk and level of care assessment, referrals, and crisis safety planning.
  • Conduct comprehensive required assessments of children to determine their mental health and substance use disorder related needs.
  • Provides mental health treatment, service coordination, care and support for children and adolescents with a parent in residential substance misuse treatment, recovery or behavioral health service.
  • Plays an important role in providing one-on-one and group support to children, adolescents, and their families affected by mental health and/or substance use disorders, offering a listening ear, empathy, and understanding. Including psychoeducation and prevention programs for children and adolescents about addiction, empowering them to become advocates for themselves in collaboration with youth serving organizations.
  • Helps the project team pinpoint and address Health-Related Social Needs impacting children/adolescents and their families affected by substance use disorders and mental health issues.
  • Collaborate with the treatment team to develop individualized and person-centered support plans that align with the child or adolescent’s treatment goals.
  • Collaborate with Justice Involved entities such as National Alliance for Drug Endangered Children, DCBS, Drug Court, Pre-Diversion, Probation and Parole and other related partners in compliance with HIPPA regulations for service connection, navigation and support in family dynamics, reunification or unique needs associated.
  • Advocate for the needs of the children and other family members while their parent or loved one is receiving treatment and other support while helping to reduce stigma and increase access to resources.

Documentation:

  • Completes and maintain accurate, timely, and confidential records, including progress notes, treatment plans, assessments, and discharge summaries in accordance with agency and regulatory standards.
  • Documents all services provided in a manner that is person-centered and meets quality improvement goals.
  • Maintains confidentiality, integrity, and security of protected health information (PHI) in compliance with all applicable agency, state, and federal laws applicable to privacy and security policies and procedures.

Staff Development Activities:

  • Engages in ongoing professional development through training, workshops, and conferences.
  • Stays current on best practices, new research, and developments in the field of behavioral health treatment.
  • Participates in team meetings, case conferences, and training to enhance knowledge and skills in supporting families.
  • Demonstrates the ability to apply supervisory recommendations to work performance.
  • Participates in required clinical supervision hours as indicated by company policy, contract requirements, and state regulations (as required).

Other:

  • In collaboration with Supervisor, develops a set schedule of work hours and corresponding caseload size. Changes to schedule made in collaboration with supervisor based on clinician availability and agency need.
  • Carries out supplementary tasks aligned with program objectives and agency priorities and special projects as developed and assigned.


Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in human services or health-related field (including, but not limited to counseling, social work, psychology, etc.)
  • Certification or licensure as required by the Kentucky state board of the appropriate discipline to provide clinical services (i.e., LPCC, LPCA, LCSW, CSW, LPP, PsyD, PhD, LPA, LCADC, LCADCA, LMFT, MFTA, etc.)
  • Preferred previous experience in child therapeutic service with a focus on substance use disorder, and trauma.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong therapeutic skills, including familiarity with a range of therapeutic modalities
  • Strong understanding of the challenges faced by women with substance use disorders and the impact on family dynamics, with a focus on children.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care and cultural competency.
  • Experience using Motivational Interviewing, DBT, CBT, EMDR, and other therapeutic modalities of treatment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems preferred.
