Senior Tactical Communications SME - Military veterans preferred

Chesapeake Technologies International (CTI) is looking for a Senior Tactical Communications Subject Matter Expert (SME) with advance knowledge of Tactical Assault Kit Servers (TAK Server). This position is in direct support of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Agencys TAK network.  As the Senior Tactical Communicator for this contract, you will oversee a team of 4 communicators spread across 3-separate shifts. These team members will be responsible for remote technical assistance to ICEs TAK infrastructure and day-to-day maintenance of the TAK ecosystem. Additionally, you will be responsible for providing Mobile Ad Hoc Network (MANET), Tactical Data Link (TDL), Tactical Radio, Tactical Assault Kit (TAK) and federating TAK networks with other federal agencies. This role will require SME support for managing the Agencys TAK Servers remotely. As the senior member of the team, you will ensure the customer has persistent technical assistance 24/7.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Design, deploy, and maintain the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agencys cloud TAK Server environments.  
• Assist with planning and execution of network and server environment upgrades and expansions.
• Collaborate with the Agencys engineering and technical staff to ensure seamless integration of hardware, software, and firmware across an array of network solutions.
• Responsible for installation, configuration, operation and maintenance of cloud infrastructure, software, and related capabilities.
• Configure and manage operating systems (Windows and Linux), applications (commercial and government), networks (IPs, subnets, etc.), and network hardware.
• Configure and manage distributed authentication services.
• Ensure system hardware, operating systems, software systems and related procedures adhere to government policies.
• Assist the government in creating and maintaining network security policies, standards, and monitoring capabilities.
• Implement and maintain backup operations, disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
• Manage cloud-based services such as DNS, digital certificates, storage solutions including SAN and NAS, IP based video, phone services and camera services, and network connected end user workstations.
• Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades and resource optimization, as required.
• Support and manage other TAK related services as needed.

Requirements

Location: This position is remote. However, occasional travel will be required to support business needs, including client engagements, team collaboration, training sessions, or field operations. Travel frequency will vary based on project demands and organizational priorities.

Necessary Skills and Experience

• Minimum 7 years of experience managing Tactical Assault Kit (TAK) Server capabilities within enterprise network environments
• Proven track record of 7 years leading and managing communications teams, with emphasis on operational coordination and technical oversight
• At least 5 years of experience administering Linux servers in hybrid cloud/on-premises environments, including performance tuning and security hardening
• Possession of relevant certifications, including: CompTIA Security+ (Sec+), Microsoft Windows or Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) Administrator, AWS Cloud Administrator or equivalent cloud platform certification.
• Extensive hands-on experience in hardware administration, including installation, implementation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
• Must have an active U.S. government Secret security clearance.
• U.S. Citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
