Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated scientist to join our Clinical Applications Team. This role will focus on advancing the adoption of the SomaScan and KREX platforms within translational research settings. The successful candidate will bring expertise in biomarker measurement methodologies and their application in clinical and translational studies. Key responsibilities include collaborating cross-functionally with internal teams to generate and critically assess scientific evidence to support the use of SomaScan products in clinical research. Additionally, this role will support the commercial organization working with external stakeholders and customers to provide clinical scientific insights and guidance, addressing customer needs and facilitate successful integration of SomaScan platforms into clinical research workflows.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Works in collaboration with bioinformatics team members to conduct scientific initiatives to support the integration of SomaScan and KREX platforms into clinical and translational research programs. Works with clinical datasets to design and perform analyses aligned with company needs, creates study summaries for clinical research and commercial prioritization, and write reports, presentations, and manuscripts on this work.
  • Critically evaluates internal and external data to inform product positioning and support scientific claims.
  • Provide scientific expertise and guidance to commercial teams to support prospective and existing customer engagement. Working closely with technical support teams to address inquiries related to clinical research.
  • Represent the company in internal and external scientific discussions, including customer meetings, conferences, and collaborative research projects.
  • Works directly with medical affairs and marketing teams to maintain scientific publication resources and contribute to the development of marketing collateral and educational content.

Qualifications:

Education

  • PhD or equivalent advanced degree in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g. molecular biology, biochemistry, clinical research, or related field) with typically 3+ years additional related clinical study experience.

Skills and experience:

  • Scientific Expertise:
    • Proven experience in biomarker discovery and validation in clinical research. A strong understanding of trial design, clinical data interpretation, creation of reports and publications desired.
    • Familiarity with biomarker measurement methodologies and their applications in translational research (e.g. inferring likelihood of clinical efficacy, understanding mechanism of action, etc.) is highly desirable.
    • Subject expertise in oncology, neuroscience, immunology or cardiometabolic disease preferred.
    • Experience using statistical analysis programs to analyze biological and clinical data preferred.
  • Cross-functional collaboration and project management:
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex scientific concepts into actionable insights for both technical and non-technical audiences.
    • Experience working in multidisciplinary teams to accomplish strategic goals.
    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Customer engagement:
    • Experience supporting commercial teams engaging with external stakeholders.
    • Demonstrated ability to gain the respect of, and to influence KOLs to participate in programs, ideally across multiple participating centers, in a constructive way, aligned with the project objectives rather than simply following their own interests.


Work Environment:

Work is performed in either a home office setting or company office setting, Extended keyboarding time is required. Occasional travel to customers or collaborator sites, including national and international travel.

While we are open to remote candidates for this role, preference will be given to individuals located near major hubs of pharmaceutical and biotechnology activity, as proximity may offer strategic advantages for collaboration and engagement.
